REGENT CHOICE SHORE EXCURSION
KETCHIKAN, ALASKA
NEETS BAY BEAR WATCH BY FLOATPLANE
After taking off in a floatplane, you will enjoy an
exhilarating flight over some of Alaska’s most spectacular
terrain, a land of dense forests and soaring mountains.
To ensure the best viewing, you will have a window seat
and headsets to hear narration describing the scenery
below. Upon landing at Neets Bay, a short hike will bring
you to a covered viewing area where black bears usually
congregate in hopes of feasting on wild salmon. Along the
way, a naturalist will explain the characteristics and habits
of the bears and how these iconic Alaskan animals rely on
the spawning salmon. Be sure to scan the forest for other
wildlife because eagles, Sitka black-tailed deer and mink
are also commonly spotted.
