The below pre-cruise health and safety requirements for this voyage were last updated on April 14, 2023.
As you prepare for your journey, we would like to advise that this sailing welcomes all guests on board regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status and without the requirement of proof of a COVID-19 test prior to embarkation.
Please note however that to disembark the ship and visit Ivory Coast guests must provide proof of being vaccinated against COVID-19.
In addition, guests who cannot provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are also subject to additional pre-embarkation testing requirements to disembark the ship and visit Ghana and Senegal, and mid-cruise testing requirements to disembark the ship and visit Togo.
If guests can provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 there are no testing requirements to visit any country on this cruise.
There are also Passport VISA Page and Yellow Fever Vaccination requirements for all guests.
Please see below for further details on all of the above requirements.
Additional travel restrictions for certain nationalities or countries may arise based on the quickly evolving public health environment. It is ultimately the responsibility of the guest to ensure they meet the entry requirements for each destination. If traveling internationally, the countries you are flying to and/or connecting through may have different testing and vaccination/booster stipulations, and we encourage all travelers to visit the government and airport websites of every country they will be traveling to throughout their journey to familiarize themselves with their requirements. Travelers may be denied entry to a country or denied boarding of the ship if all country-specific requirements are not met.
We strongly urge all guests to travel with comprehensive travel insurance with specific COVID-19 coverage, as well as to travel with a latest generation smart phone or tablet with international calling and data turned on in the event that regulations change while you are traveling.
While our ships are staffed with professional medical teams and common prescription medications, anti-virals and therapeutics, our ships do not accept medical insurance and guests must provide payment for all services, including any testing requirements for country entry, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.
Routinely evaluated using the latest science and technology, SailSAFE™, our industry leading Health & Safety Program, will continue to create multiple layers of protection against COVID-19 for our guests, crew and the communities we visit. You can find out more about our cleaning, sanitation and air filtration technologies used across our fleet and more at RSSC.com/HealthSafetyProtocols.
Required Yellow Fever Vaccination Reminder
We have been advised by local authorities in the countries listed above that all guests will be required to provide proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination to disembark the ship.
Proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination consists of an International Certificate Vaccination Card, approved by the World Health Organization. The card states the batch number of the Yellow Fever shot, the dosage, the date of inoculation and the doctor’s stamp. If you are medically unable to receive the Yellow Fever Vaccination, a medical waiver letter may be accepted in some ports.
It is ultimately the decision of the local authorities regarding what documentation they choose to review and accept. In the event you do not have proof of a Yellow Fever Vaccination or a medical waiver letter is not accepted you will be required to remain onboard while the ship is in that specific port.

5) Definition of Fully Vaccinated
***PLEASE NOTE*** – If guests can provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as per the below definition there are no testing requirements to visit any country on this cruise.
To fulfil the definition of fully vaccinated guests must have had the final dose of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA) and/or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized, single brand vaccination protocol received 14 days or more prior to embarkation.
A booster dose is not required to be fully vaccinated.
Vaccines include J&J Janssen, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford (also known as Covishield and Vaxzervria), Sinopharm BIBP, Sinovac and Covaxin. These vaccines are listed as examples. Refer to FDA, EMA or WHO websites for full approved current list.
A mixed vaccination combination of two doses of an FDA or EMA approved/authorized or WHO Emergency Use Listed (EUL) COVID-19 two-dose series with a minimum interval of 17 days will also be accepted. Note: individuals receiving a Janssen COVID-19 vaccine before or after another COVID-19 vaccine are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 14 days after receipt of the single dose of the Janssen vaccine.
Proof of vaccination should be the original vaccination record document issued by either the country's health authority that administered the vaccination or the guest's medical provider that completed the vaccine administration; however, a photo of vaccination record documentation will also be accepted. Electronic vaccination records will be accepted for residents of countries where electronic documentation is the standard issued form. Confirmation email of vaccination appointment will not be accepted. For more details on vaccinations and answers to Frequently Asked Questions, please click here.
6) Face Coverings
At this time, face coverings are recommended but not required for guests on board.
We will continue to update our face covering policy as protocols evolve and change as policies are subject to local oversight of authorities in the jurisdiction(s) in which the ships are sailing. Should local regulations change, guests may be required to wear face coverings with short notice.
Please note, certain airlines and in-destination venues and public transport services may implement their own policies, independent to the local jurisdictions and we therefore recommend guests to travel with a supply of face-coverings.
7) Isolation and Quarantine Protocols
Guests will only be tested while on board if they report symptoms consistent with COVID-19, and it is deemed a medical necessity by the ship’s doctor, unless required due to local public health requirements. In the event that a guest tests positive for COVID-19 while on board, mandatory isolation protocols must be followed per the current local health and safety regulations. Guests who are deemed to have come into close contact with another guest who has tested positive for COVID-19 while on board, may also be subject to local isolation protocols. All guests are strongly urged to travel with comprehensive travel insurance.
Pre-Cruise Check List for Embarkation Country Arrival
All guests on this sailing are required to have at least 3 blank VISA pages in their passport (not including the endorsement page for US passports). In addition to these 3 blank VISA pages, there will need to be space for entry stamps required by some of the remaining countries visited during your cruise.
