A blast from the past to make a welcome return
Popular veteran Cruise Director, Barry Hopkins, to return to Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Southampton, 14 May 2012 –After an absence of almost five years, popular and familiar face to many, Barry Hopkins, is set to return to Regent Seven Seas Cruises this summer as part of its twentieth anniversary celebrations.
The line is welcoming back the British-born veteran Cruise Director, who has also worked for other prestigious lines including Seabourn, as ‘Special Ambassador’ aboard Seven Seas Mariner for five cruises between 16 June and 27 July in the Mediterranean.
Hopkins, an accomplished performer, started in the entertainment business in some of Britain’s most popular theatre productions in the 1970’s including the hit musical Hans Christian Anderson at the London Palladium. He joined Regent as a Cruise Director in 1997 aboard Song of Flower and went on to work on the Paul Gaugin and Radisson Diamond before launching Seven Seas Mariner and Voyager. Hopkins has also recorded studio albums at Abbey Road and had a No.1 single in 1970 with ‘Love ya, Want ya, Need ya’.
“I am very much looking forward to being a social butterfly, spending quality time with guests and reuniting with the many old friends and colleagues I met over my 11 memorable years with Regent” said Barry. “ I retired 18 months ago and really can’t wait to get back onboard the Mariner which has always been very close to my heart as I was her original Cruise Director when she launched in 2001”. In celebration of its twentieth anniversary, the line has also launched some new special fares for the July sailings with fares starting from just £1,999 per person for 7-nights. Free Business Class upgrades are also available on selected voyages or when booking a Penthouse Suite or higher.
