Guest-favorite, daytime gathering place Coffee Connection is now the place for night owls with a hankering for delicious nightcaps paired with almost-too-pretty-to-eat sweets. Sapori e Amari, Italian for flavors and bitters, is a new menu concept that pairs perfectly with that sudden craving for one more drink or a small bite.
SECOND WIND WELCOMED
If you get a second wind after dancing to the tunes of a live band, trying your luck at our elegant Casino or applauding a performance at the Constellation Theater, Sapori e Amari is the perfect way to make an unforgettable evening last just a little bit longer.
Between nine o’clock and eleven, guests can stop by Coffee Connection aboard Seven Seas Splendor® and Seven Seas Explorer® for an Italian-inspired nightcap. The comfortable seating and inviting ambiance of the space is perfect for having a late-night chat about the origins of the term “nightcap” and which one of the libations makes the best one.
Some may say the expression dates back to the 1700s and refers to the item of clothing by the same name, and there may even be debate as to whether Frangelico or Amaretto make the better nightcap. While there may not be a clear answer to any of these questions by the end of the night, the real winner will be the camaraderie of sharing another wonderful experience aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises®.
As mentioned, this menu is inspired by the flavors of Italy, with classic aperitifs like Bellini and Negroni, digestifs such as limoncello and grappa, as well as wines that range from prosecco to Valpolicella. Not to be outdone by our creative bar staff, our talented pastry chefs bring out delightfully petite desserts that highlight the sweet flavors of the beverage offerings.
PRE-DINNER/POST-DINNER SPOT, TOO
Luckily, guests do not have to stay out late to enjoy the new menu. A variation of the Sapori e Amari menu that features drinks and snacks is served from six o’clock in the evening until nine, making it an ideal pre-dinner meeting place, where guests can enjoy an Aperol Spritz or sample a few nibbles while they wait for their friends to arrive.
“Amaro, traditionally consumed after sunset, tend to be light-bodied and low in alcohol, making it the ideal beverage to enjoy before a meal,” said Bernhard Klotz, Vice President of Food and Beverage. “Since they’re quite bitter on their own, amari like Campari, Cynar and Aperol are mixed with soda water or prosecco to truly shine.”
Likewise, Coffee Connection aboard Seven Seas Splendor and Seven Seas Explorer is also a great post-dinner gathering place with bittersweet amaro on the menu, like Fernet-Branca that can be enjoyed as an after-dinner digestif. And coffee lovers will absolutely delight in ordering a Caffé Espresso Corretto, consisting of a shot of espresso with a touch of grappa. Che buono!
