Take advantage of our best deals and start planning your unforgettable journey to the world's most inspiring destinations.
Explore the Masphi Reserve cloud forest in adventurous ways of your own choosing and discover the charms of Quito, two destinations recognized by UNESCO for their unique characteristics and historical importance.
DAY 1
On arrival at the Quito International Airport, proceed through Immigration, collect your luggage, and clear Customs. Afterwards, you will meet our local representative and transfer to your hotel near the airport.
Check in is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have your room available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early flight, you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is ready upon your arrival.
Meals are on your own today.
DAY 2
After breakfast, meet your guide and head towards Mitad del Mundo, a commemorative site built on the equator where you can straddle two hemispheres at the same time.
Visit the Intiñan Ethnographic Museum, which reveals the history, customs, and lifestyle of Ecuador´s pre-Columbian indigenous people. It also offers interactive demonstrations of the area’s geography, magnetism, and natural science.
You will continue to Mashpi Lodge in the western slopes of the Andes. This is truly a destination where nature meets luxury, a boutique hotel designed with plenty of windows to give guests a front-row seat to one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet.
Located on a scenic plateau in the heart of a biosphere reserve, Mashpi Lodge features breathtaking views of the surrounding rainforest and mountains and the unique ecosystems within them. Every detail, from its architectural grandeur to its sophisticated interiors, allows guests to be deeply immersed in the splendor of nature through its expansive, floor-to-ceiling windows.
Mashpi Lodge is far more than a five-star hotel in an exquisite location; it also provides access to the Mashpi Reserve and a research station that is at the forefront of rainforest protection and education.
You will have the opportunity to join a variety of unforgettable tours including bird watching. More than 400 avian species have been catalogued in the reserve, 35 of which are not found anywhere else on Earth. You can also visit the hummingbird garden, the observation tower, life center, butterfly farm and interactive laboratory. Other options include a day or evening hike and a Sky Bike tour above the forest canopy.
Upon arrival, you will enjoy lunch and get comfortably settled in your room. One of the naturalists will then provide a brief introductory talk about the cloud forest and its conservation, the available activities, and helpful tips about what to wear and what to bring on the excursions.
In the afternoon, if you choose, gather in the lobby, and proceed to the Napa Trail, which cuts through areas where the forest is regenerating large patches of pristine forest. Along the way, you will learn about the ecological succession and the importance of forest conservation for the Chocó region.
This trail also possesses great scenic beauty and is good for bird watching. Towards the end of the trail, you will find a unique forest of iron palm, whose wood is used mostly in the construction of houses. The trail is of moderate difficulty and the guided walk takes approximately two hours.
Upon your return, dinner will be served at the lodge. Mashpi’s gastronomic identity is inspired by the native ingredients and organic items foraged in the forest such as wild garlic and chillangua, a cilantro-like herb. The cuisine is prepared using modern techniques, yet still pays homage to Ecuador’s rich culinary heritage.
The team at Mashpi Lodge have also prepared a series of evening lectures for guests that wish to learn more about the cloud forest ecology. Lectures include “The Secret Wildlife of Mashpi,” “The Camera Trap Project” and “Chocó, a Biological Hotspot.” These lectures will be given by one of the naturalists or a resident biologist.
Every experience at Mashpi is tailored to your interests and ability levels. When you arrive at the lodge, you will see a chart with all the available activities. Adjustments can be made at any time along the way, ensuring that you have the experience of a lifetime.
DAY 3
The below represents a sample of the activities that you may wish to participate in.
Enjoy a 15-minute walk to the Sky Bike and observation tower. The tower presents the protected forest in all its glory. With a height of 30 meters (100 feet), this elevated vantage point allows you to appreciate the complex structure of the forest and the biodiversity of species that inhabit the treetops. To reach the top, you must climb up 162 steps, but the views are well worth the effort.
The Sky Bike makes for an original and exciting way to explore the forest canopy up close. It is designed for two people to use at once, with one person pedaling the bike along a cable stretched between two points in the forest, crossing a gorge above a river between the rocks and trees below. Silent, easy-to-use, and fun, it is an activity that provides a chance to observe the natural world close to the lodge.
The Sky Bike ride takes no more than 10 minutes. It can be a roundtrip adventure, or you may walk back to the lodge along one of the beautiful forest trails.
The Oxibelis trail takes you to a small waterfall and then back to the lodge. Another alternative for those in very good physical condition is taking the Limones trail, which has some steep points, to the San Vicente´s waterfall, after 45 minutes away.
Once you return to the lodge, you will be offered a refreshing natural juice drink and fresh towels before lunch.
In the afternoon, set out for the Howler Monkeys trail and Life Center. Follow the Aulladores trail through the forest where many centenarian trees survive, the copal tree being the most emblematic.
Along this trail your local guide will listen to the sounds in the forest to point out fauna such as tropical birds and howler monkeys. The accompanying naturalist will speak to you about the ecology and conservation of the forest. Both will share their extensive knowledge of forest plants and their uses.
At the Life Center, you will see birds, rodents, and other mammals, most of which visit the fruit feeders along the expansive wooden deck. The Life center is conceived as a place for learning and discovery, but also where guests can be at one with nature.
Inside the Life Center guests will learn more about the butterflies that inhabit the region and see the process of their stages from eggs to larva or caterpillar to chrysalis or pupa to winged wonder. Other points of learning include the species of host plants such as passion flowers, birds of paradise and milk weed used by the butterflies to lay their eggs and feed the larvae. Nearby, there is an area for growing useful plants, bushes, and trees such as banana and plantain, manioc, cacao, hot chili pepper, coffee, and wild raspberries.
Before dinner, you may wish to take part in an invigorating one-hour evening tour. At night the forest is transformed completely, the sounds and smells become more intense, and your senses will be heightened as you follow the guide along the forest path.
Turn off your flashlight and observe the sparkling of fireflies in the woods, listen to the flutter of bats and look for the faint glow of bioluminescent fungi such as foxfire or fairy fire on the ground. Hear the call of owls and night birds and the rustling of the branches above you as the kinkajous, an arboreal mammal related to raccoons, race through the treetops searching for ripe fruits.
Back at the lodge, enjoy a delicious dinner.
DAY 4
The below represents another sample of the activities that you may wish to participate in.
Mashpi Lodge offers a haven to bird enthusiasts seeking to view the species that inhabit the beautiful Choco Bioregion, a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
For instance, every morning starting at 6:00am, guests can go to the lodge rooftop terrace where freshly baked snacks and hot coffee, tea and chocolate are set out, along with spotting scopes and binoculars. As the day breaks, the air fills with the sounds of hundreds of birds, many of which are perched in the trees and vegetation in the immediate surroundings of the lodge, allowing guests to often see incredibly rare species without leaving the lodge.
Mashpi’s Dragonfly is an excellent way to witness the reserve’s most exceptional and magical moments. This open-air cable car system carries you across and sometimes even directly through the forest canopy, offering guests a relaxing way to enjoy the reserve from overhead. There are two main stations, six towers and an intermediate station where guests can get on and off if they wish. The guides can stop the gondola at any point to allow visitors to observe any flora and fauna that catches your eye. An entire roundtrip takes approximately 40 minutes to complete. Each of the four gondolas can carry up to four guests and one guide.
Lunch and dinner are served at the lodge in between activities.
DAY 5
After breakfast and check out, you will meet our local representative for the nearly 3-hour road transfer to Quito.
Quito was an important trading center long before Spanish colonizers arrived, and one of the best places to see artifacts and art from these pre-Columbian times is Casa del Alabado. This fantastic museum holds a collection representing most of the societies that have ever inhabited the area now known as Ecuador. This exhibition gives you a sense of the artistic and intellectual depth of this land’s inhabitants.
A sightseeing tour of the city will show off some of the reasons why Ecuador's capital earned its honor as the first UNESCO World Heritage site. Marvel at San Francisco Church and its museum of religious art, and visit bustling Independence Plaza, flanked by the Presidential Palace and Quito Cathedral. Rich in art treasures, fine woodcarvings, and flowering balconies, it is the historical center of Quito.
During the tour, enjoy lunch in a restaurant before checking in to your hotel. After some time to freshen up, you will visit the magnificent La Compañía de Jesus, a baroque-style church adorned with seven tons of gold leaf. Inside, you will find an interior meant to resemble paradise as the gold shines brightly into the church, strategically illuminating the altar.
You will then enjoy an exclusive visit into the heart of the complex, passing through centuries year-old doors and hallways. You will come face to face with the imposing domes of the church, hidden so well that not even most locals have visited. Picture what the city was like hundreds of years ago as you climb up to the domes, where you will be served a cocktail while taking in the unmatched views of San Francisco Square, the Presidential Palace, and the Pichincha volcano.
You will spend the evening at Casa Gangotena, a Relais & Châteaux property located in the center of Old Town. Lavishly renovated, it was once the home of several presidents and is steeped in rich history.
DAY 6
After breakfast, transfer to the Quito Airport for an international flight to Santiago. Upon arrival in Santiago and after passing through Customs, Immigration and luggage claim, a representative will meet you for the transfer to your overnight hotel, the Ritz Carlton or similar. Lunch and dinner will be on your own.
NOTE: Guests are normally allowed to only check 1 suitcase; however, for this program an additional piece has been added to the cost. Therefore, guests can check in free of charge 2 suitcases with a maximum weight 50lbs (23kg). Each guest is also permitted free of charge one carry-on bag with a maximum of 15lbs (7kg).
Should guests need to check in more than 2 pieces or have any overweight luggage on the flight, they will need to pay the airline fees at the airport upon check in. The average cost is approximately $120 USD per extra suitcase and an additional $120 USD for an overweight bag. Fees are imposed by the airline and are subject to change.

A local representative will accompany guests at the airport and assist with check-in and the group will be met in Chile by another local representative.
Expected Weather:
In the early morning, the weather in Mashpi is usually cloudy around the lodge, with fog rolling in and around the trees and vegetation, significantly reducing visibility. This doesn’t mean that you can´t see birds and animals, though. In fact, birdwatching at daybreak is one of the absolutely best times to see a tremendous variety of bird species and other mammals.
The fog will lift by mid-morning and the sun will start to shine through the clouds, bathing the Choco cloud forest in sunshine. The sun stays out until early afternoon, when clouds start to move in once again, blanketing the forest in shade. There is often a short shower in the afternoon, and once it stops raining it normally clears up again, although it just as often continues to rain softly into the evening. After sunset, the fog starts to roll in again, delicately enveloping Mashpi Lodge until morning.
The coldest it gets at Mashpi Lodge is 64 °F (18 °C), while the warmest it gets is 77 °F (25 °C)
What to Bring:
Quito and Chile:
• A sweater or lightweight jacket for the cooler evening temperatures in old town.

Chile operates on a 220V supply voltage. You will require a power plug adapter in Chile for sockets type C and L which differ from US plugs.

Ecuador’s Galápagos Islands are one of the world’s most remarkable destinations: an open-air wildlife museum that stirs the explorer within everyone. The archipelago, located about 600 miles west of mainland Ecuador, is home to an astonishing variety of endemic species — enough to inspire a theory that would change the world — and proves an irresistible destination for adventurers and nature-lovers to this day. On this epic adventure spend two full days exploring the Galapagos and all that is has to offer with the addition of a tour of Guayaquil and an overnight in Lima.
Special Note: Due to the nature of the day trips on this program, it is not suitable for guests who have walking difficulty or utilize a wheelchair. Guests must be able to get in and out of small dinghy boats with little to no assistance. Also, any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.
This program begins in Guayaquil, Ecuador therefore your flight must be booked into the José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil. Guests will board the ship in San Antonio, Chile and the international flight to Chile is included in this program. The minimum number of guests to operate is 15 guests and there is a maximum of 16 guests for the program.
DAY 1 – February 7, 2025
On arrival at the José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil, proceed through Immigration formalities, identify and collect your luggage and clear Customs.
After Customs clearance you will meet our local representative and transfer to your hotel which is located near the airport.
Check in time is at 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have your room available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early arriving flight you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is ready upon your arrival.
Meals are on your own today.
DAY 2 – February 8, 2025
After breakfast, meet your guide and drive to the airport where you will take a flight to Galapagos.
Upon arrival at Baltra Airport, a Galapagos Naturalist Guide will welcome the group and help with luggage and guidance towards a public bus that will drive towards the Itabaca Channel. Next board a public ferry for a 5-minute crossing of the azure waters of the channel towards Santa Cruz. On Santa Cruz, board a private vehicle just for our group, to transfer to Puerto Ayora on the other side of the island. Make a short stop to see the Twin Craters
Driving through the rural areas of the island, you will experience the agriculture of the archipelago as well as the diversity of its flora. Surrounded by wild landscapes and different species, keep a lookout for the finches that are famous for being the basis of Darwin´s theory of evolution.
Lunch will be served at a local venue in the highlands.
During your visit to the Santa Cruz Highlands, watch the famous Galapagos land tortoises in their natural environment and learn how the private ranches aid to protect these special animals. You can hear their sounds while they are trying to eat the leaves of the trees or crashing through the undergrowth. Tortoises of all different ages and sizes gather here: small young ones with shining carapaces, and older ones which are a little bit more laggard and cracks in their shells showing evidence of a long life. While seeking the giant tortoises, your local guide will share the story of the origin the lava tunnels located at this area. Formed by the lava floods of the volcanoes, they range from the highlands down to the sea level.
Transfer to Puerto Ayora town, where you will enjoy a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station and its famous residents within an impressive giant prickly-pear cactus forest. These are the headquarters of scientific investigation, conservation, and the National Park administration in the islands. Gain insight into the huge efforts being made by scientists, guides, rangers and park managers to preserve this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Charles Darwin Research Station is also part of the "Centro de Crianza Fausto Llerena" which is the breeding center for the tortoises. Tortoises are raised here in the care of researchers and then when ready are re-introduced into their natural environment.
Continue to your hotel for check-in. Dinner is served at the hotel after an exciting and memorable day.
NOTE: please pack accordingly for the flight from Guayaquil to the Galapagos. Guests can only check in free of charge one suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 lbs (23 kg). Each guest is also permitted free of charge one carry-on bag with a maximum of 15 lbs (7 kg). Any excess luggage will be stored free of charge in Guayaquil. Guests checking in more than one suitcase or an overweight bag on the flight will need to pay excess or overweight luggage fees at the airport upon check in. The average cost is approximately $120 USD per extra suitcase and an additional $120 USD for an overweight bag. Fees are imposed by the airline and are subject to change.
DAY 3 – February 9, 2025
Today take a full day boat tour to one of the nearby Islands. The island chosen for the day is subject to confirmation by Galapagos National Park Management much closer to the program operation date. This government institution assigns the island tours based on technical ecological analysis and is dependent on the number of groups visiting the area at the same time. RSSC nor our local ground operator can control which programs are chosen for each day.
Island Tours:
BARTOLOME:
Experience a day in paradise with beautiful white beaches, outer space ambient, clear water, and observe as many native animals start their day.
On the two-hour boat trip breakfast is served while watching the sunrise at sea. There may be an opportunity to observe dolphins and other marine residents very close to the boat in the early hours.
Landing in Bartolome, approximately 300 steps lead up through the moon-like landscape to the highest point of the island. The reward is an amazing view over the islands Santiago, North Seymour, Baltra, Santa Cruz and Rábida. Also in view is Chinese Hat Island, as well as the well-known Pinnacle Rock, which is all that remains of an ancient volcano. The rock is home to a large quantity of sea birds and is the most photographed landscape in the Galapagos Islands.
After changing clothes for a beach visit, board the dinghy-ride for a short ride to Sullivan Bay for snorkeling. Those who don't wish to snorkel may stay on the dinghy to search among the rocks for the diminutive Galapagos Penguin. Back at the beach enjoy some time to relax or swim. The shallow sea invites you to go swimming and snorkeling while we search for Galapagos penguins, sharks, starfish, rays, sea turtles and other exotic and colorful fish. Enjoy the diversity of native residents such as marine iguanas, sea lions, pelicans, and more. After this amazing adventure, lunch is served on the return journey.
SEYMOUR AND BACHAS:
This tour offers the golden chance to get to know Seymour Island and Bachas beach. During the 1-hour boat navigation to Seymour Island, observe the slow awakening of the archipelago as the day begins.
Disembark your boat and board a dinghy for a ride along the rocky coast near a small forest consisting of gray and silver Palo Santo (Holy Stick) trees, which are without leaves for most of the year. Seymour is famous for its large colonies of birds. The unique male frigate birds with their inflated red pouches attract females during breeding season, and the famous Galapagos blue-footed boobies can be observed as well. Other highlights of this excursion are a beach with small cliffs, seagulls, many sea lions, marine iguanas and pelicans, most only an arm's length away.
A freshly cooked lunch consists of two courses and is served on the boat. After lunch, your boat navigates to Bachas beach along the northern coast of Santa Cruz Island. Take a short hike to the flamingo pond just behind the beach, and afterwards refresh with swimming and snorkeling at this isolated paradise beach with white sand and turquoise waters. Sea lions, rays, sea turtles, and tropical fish may join in our underwater experience!
PLAZAS AND PUNTA CARRION:
Board a boat and cruise to South Plaza Island. The island welcomes travelers with a bright colorful red and green carpet of sesuvio, an endemic plant, spread over the Island, as well as the loud, friendly barking of several sea lion families which have settled down on the shore of the channel between North and South Plaza Islands where your boat anchors. The turquoise water of the ocean juxtaposes perfectly with the white shining beaches and the black lava rocks of the coast.
The hike is easy and goes alongside relaxing sea lions and land iguanas which can be found on most parts of the island. The trail leads to the highest cliff where swallow-tailed gulls cross the air screaming. Here lie the sea lions which could not persist against their competitors climbing up the almost vertical wall. At the same time, tropical birds, blue-footed boobies, and other marine frigate birds glide gently in the wind. We suggest guests bring along binoculars in order to get an extraordinary close view of these animals, as well as the other marine life. The view from the highest point over the ocean and the powerful waves breaking at the cliffs is an experience that visitors will not forget.
Afterwards, the trip continues to Punta Carrion, where lunch is served on board the boat. This is a great spot to snorkel and swim among rays, sharks, and hundreds of colorful tropic fish.
SANTA FE:
Formed by uplifting, rather than by a volcano, Santa Fe is known for having one of the most beautiful coves in all the Galapagos. Some of the island’s endemic species include the Galapagos hawk, Galapagos snake, land iguanas, various types of finches, and the Galapagos mockingbird. The visit includes a hike on a trail past salt bushes where Galapagos hawks as well as the Santa Fe land iguanas tend to roam. Playful sea lions will usually accompany swimmers and snorkelers during beach time.
FLOREANA:
Navigate to the small town of Puerto Velasco Ibarra located on the Floreana Island (approximately 2.5 hours from Santa Cruz). Upon arrival, take local transportation known as “Chiva” to start a 30-minute ride up to the highlands of Floreana Island. The chiva will ascend a dirt road surrounded by typical dry vegetation which transforms into a lush, green vegetation as you gain elevation. In this area, you will also find some farms with banana, coffee, cacao, and other tropical plantations. The short drive will end at the “pampada” from where you will start a beautiful walk to observe the typical flora of the area. Along the way you will also encounter some giant Galapagos tortoises. Continue to the place known as “Asilo de la Paz” (Peace Asylum), a historical place where the German Wittmer family settled down when they arrived to Floreana in 1932. Observe the caves used as their home before moving to the place which is now known as Puerto Velasco Ibarra. Back in town, enjoy lunch prepared in a small, local restaurant.
Next, walk to “La Loberia”, a beautiful bay. The main attraction is the presence of a small colony of sea lions. There is also a great chance to observe marine iguanas resting on the rocks, and in the waters of the bay we may be able to see marine turtles.
ISABELA:
This morning, sail to the town of Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island (approximately 3 hours from Santa Cruz). Upon arrival, visit the Isabela Tortoise Breading and Interpretation Center where your guide will explain the different activities developed by the National Park to protect the fragile environment. Here, you will also find Giant Galapagos Tortoises of different species and sizes.
Afterwards, walk to the place known as “Humedales” (Wetlands). The walk follows a well-maintained path from which you can observe this beautiful place composed by lagoons and rocks and surrounded by four species of mangroves and typical trees of the area. In the lagoons you can observe flamingos and migratory birds.
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit "Las Tintoreras”, a scenic area where you will find colonies of marine iguanas, sea lions, and many sharks known as Tintoreras (White-tipped sharks) resting in the channels formed by lava flows. Later, you can do some snorkeling, perhaps in the company of sea lions, penguins and marine turtles.
Regardless of the program selected for the day, your trip ends with a late afternoon return and dinner at your hotel.
Please Note:
Boat tours may be shared with independent guests
Boat sailing during the navigable day tour is usually rough and due to sea conditions, may take longer than 2 hours. The islands to be visited are determined at the sole discretion of the Galapagos National Park Management.
DAY 4 – February 10, 2025
This day will be similar to Day 3 but with a different island visited. As with Day 3, the island visited is subject to confirmation closer to program operation. Your day trip ends with a late afternoon return and dinner at your hotel.
DAY 5 – February 11, 2025
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight back to Guayaquil. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to a local restaurant for lunch followed by a panoramic city tour of Guayaquil. Guests will be re-united with any luggage that was stored.
Begin along the architecturally-rich main 9 de Octubre Avenue, and then continue to a favorite destination of the locals – Centennial Park – a green area that honors the heroes of Guayaquil’s Independence. The unusual Bolivar Park, also called “park of the iguanas”, comes next. Here, you will have an opportunity to see the colorful iguanas roaming around the park undisturbed and perching on the treetops!
Continue to the Malecon 2000 along the shores of the Guayas River. Pass by the Civic Plaza, the Moorish Tower, City Hall, and the Rotonda Monument. Drive towards the north passing Santa Ana Hill, which is home to Guayaquil’s oldest neighborhood – the Barrio of Las Peñas. Here the homes have been beautifully restored with brightly colored paints and design details.
After your tour, return to the Guayaquil International Airport for an international flight to Lima.
Upon arrival in Lima, you will go through Customs and Immigration and once you have collected your luggage you will meet a local guide who will walk with you to your overnight hotel which is located inside the airport terminal.
A late dinner will be provided at the hotel.
NOTE: For the international flight between Guayaquil and Lima, guests can normally check in free of charge 1 suitcase with a maximum weight 50 lbs (23 kg). Each guest is also permitted free of charge one carry-on bag with a maximum of 15 lbs (7 kg).

DAY 6 – February 12, 2025
After an early breakfast, walk back to the Lima Airport check in area for an international flight to Santiago, Chile.
Upon arrival in Santiago, Chile, a local representative will meet the group after customs, immigration and luggage claim, and transfer with you to a local venue for lunch before you proceed to San Antonio port for embarkation. Enjoy one evening unwinding in Chile’s capital city Santiago and then spend the next three wonderfully relaxing days and nights doing whatever you please at the Colchagua Valley’s most extraordinary hotel and winery, where the options include a cooking class, wine tastings, horseback riding and enjoying the boundless amenities.
Note: Due to the number of steps required to access Vina Vik hotel and the bungalow rooms, this program is not available for guests who require the use of a wheelchair.
DAY 1
After proceeding through Immigration and Customs at the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago, you will meet your driver inside the terminal after main exit, close to gate N° 3. You will then be transferred directly to the Ritz Carlton Hotel or similar.
Check in upon arrival has been included in the cost of the program.
The remainder of the day will be at leisure and meals are on your own.
The hotel is located within walking proximity to a variety of restaurants and bars. Your hotel concierge will be happy to assist with any dinner recommendations and reservations.
Note: There can be up to a 10-12-minute walk depending on your arrival gate to get to Customs and Immigration. Our local team will be waiting for you as you exit the luggage claim area.
DAY 2
After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will be met and transferred (2.5-3-hour drive depending on traffic) to the Colchagua Valley, whose name in the local indigenous language means “valley of small lagoons”. The land was originally the home of Mapuche warrior tribes and later marked the southern boundary of the Inca Empire.
Upon reaching Millahue (in the Cachapoal Valley), you will arrive at Viña Vik, an architecturally extraordinary hotel and winery. A visionary blend of wine, architecture, landscape and luxury, this property has always placed innovation and science at the center of everything it does.
Much of the hotel is built into the natural landscape and capped with an incredible undulating titanium roof that can be seen from miles around. From the winery below and when the sun is shining, the roof appears to be made of gold. This stunning feature was built this way to pay homage to the valley which was nicknamed “Lugar de Oro or Golden Place” by the native Mapuche people. Norwegian entrepreneur Alexander Vik, with his keen eye for designing stunning buildings, has truly created a property that is like no other.
The hotel features twenty-two individually decorated and distinctive suites and seven bungalows with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the breath-taking views. Decorated according to individual themes, the suites and bungalows feature exclusive art and design, from elegant pieces of furniture to inspired murals and decorations, as well as exquisite sculptures and paintings. Your luxurious Pura Vik Bungalow includes 360-degree views, a terrace and private hot tub.
Upon arrival, your visit will start with a tour and tasting of the renowned wines of Vik Winery. As you look around the entire property you will see 4,400 hectares of astonishing Chilean wilderness in which only approximately 327 hectares of vines have been planted. This majestic and natural landscape is composed of 12 valleys, each one with its own micro-climate, distinct exposures, all within a wind-tunnel cooled by Pacific coastal breezes and winds from high up in the Andes mountains that provide VIK with enormous complexity and exceptional variety.
After your tour of the winery, you will proceed to the hotel for check in and lunch at Mila Mila Restaurant.
Following a short tour to become acquainted with the amenities of the hotel, you will spend the remainder of the day participating in whichever activity you choose.
Throughout your stay, take time to unwind at the cantilevered slate pool that extends out over the valleys and the lake below. (Insider tip: The sunsets are quite spectacular from the pool deck!). Enjoy delicious meals that are served in a variety of settings, from the indoor dining room to the expansive outdoor terraces that look out onto the valley, lake and vineyard or even in their newly opened and rustic “garden to table” BBQ restaurant.
At the spa, you may wish to pamper yourself and indulge in a massage, facial or body scrub using products made from grapes grown on the property (additional cost) and in the evening perhaps enjoy stargazing beneath incredibly clear night skies.
Optional activities that are included during your stay are:
•Orchard tour with seeds and flower tasting
•Wine tasting paired with creamy chocolates
•Mixology class
•Bicycling, hiking and bird watching
•Enjoying the hotel sauna, swimming pool and game room
Additional activities may be available for purchase. Your Vina Vik Concierge will be able to assist in setting up your schedule.
Note: There may be other hotel guests participating in the same experiences.
Later in the day, dinner will be provided at Mila Mila Restaurant.
Another insider tip: Be sure to check out the “art wall” in the restaurant – see if you can spot the RSSC logo and don’t be afraid to add your own personal touch!
Note: There are approximately 25-30 steps up to enter the hotel from the vehicle drop off area. Pura Vik Bungalows at Vina Vik are separate from the main building and along with the 25-30 steps to go down once you exit the main building, there is also a downward sloping brick paved driveway and then approximately 8-10 steps down to reach each bungalow.
Transfer note: For guests who would prefer a quicker transfer, the hotel has a helicopter pad and transfers may be arranged independently from Santiago to the hotel.
DAY 3
After breakfast, the RSSC group will set out on a horseback ride along trails with immediate views of the vineyard and mountains. On the ride, note how the winery building has been designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape and can barely be seen over the vines depending on your vantage point. After returning, refresh and then proceed to a cooking class activity. This experience includes a visit to the organic vegetable garden, where guests will be able to hand pick the various ingredients that will later be used in the cooking class. The experience ends with a tasting of the dishes paired with Vik’s iconic wines.
The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Choose to relax or participate in one of the optional activities. Please consult with the hotel concierge for a list of your included optional activities operating on this day.
Dinner is included at Mila Mila Restaurant.
Note: Horseback ride is not mandatory but is included for our group. The ride is slow and easy around the vineyard with several stops along the way for photos should you wish, therefore previous experience is not necessary. Please check with Reception for meeting location and time.
DAY 4
After breakfast, the day can be spent doing whatever you wish. Please consult with the hotel concierge for a list of your included optional activities operating on this day. We recommend enjoying lunch at the restaurant adjacent to the winery for lunch.
This evening, enjoy a BBQ Countryside group dinner to crown your visit at Viña VIK Hotel.
DAY 5
After breakfast at the hotel and check out, bid farewell to your Vik hosts and drive towards the San Antonio terminal where you will check in for your cruise. Drive time is approximately 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic.

Experience Buenos Aires like a local porteño by watching a traditional tango performance, visiting atmospheric neighborhoods and enjoying an Argentine asado of grilled meats at country ranch.
DAY 1
Following disembarkation, you will begin a half-day sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires, starting in the neighborhood La Boca, where you will view El Caminito, a street that is an open-air museum of sorts full of brightly colored buildings. Some claim the tango originated here around 1870, and tango dancers are often seen performing impromptu in the streets.
Continuing on, you will pass the city hall and Metropolitan Cathedral, which is adorned with frescoes and elaborate artwork. You will also see Casa Rosado, the executive mansion. President Juan Peron and his wife Eva, more affectionately known as Evita, delivered numerous speeches from the balcony.
Then, it’s on to the affluent La Recoleta neighborhood and the Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place for Argentina’s wealthy and powerful. It holds thousands of grandiose mausoleums containing the remains of generals, sports figures and most famously Evita.
A snack at Café Tortoni follows. This historic cafe has served as the artistic and intellectual capital of Buenos Aires since 1858, hosting notable guests such as Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. Founded in 1858, the café is the oldest coffee shop in the country.
After touring the city, you will transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Lunch and dinner will be on your own.
Day 2
Following breakfast at the hotel, you will spend the day at a traditional estancia ranch in the countryside, a beautiful land that is home to the gaucho. The owners will be your hosts, and during your stay they will regale you with stories about the differences between modern country life and country life years ago.
Lunch will be a hearty asado of grilled meats with empanadas, accompanied by excellent Argentinean wines.
The entertainment will be just as outstanding. You will enjoy folk songs and dances, equestrian activities and an extraordinary demonstration of traditional gaucho skills, such as ring races and horse races and games.
Following your time at the estancia, you will return to the hotel to spend the evening. Dinner will be on your own.
DAY 3
Following breakfast at the hotel, you will spend most of the daylight hours as you please. The hotel is centrally located in Buenos Aires, and there is plenty to enjoy nearby, including museums, shops and restaurants.
Your evening will be spent watching an authentic tango performance over dinner. Although the exact origin of the tango is unclear, there is no denying that the sultry dance is mesmerizing. The rhythmic music and mournful lyrics are just as alluring, as they often tell a story of lust, betrayal and loneliness. You don’t have to speak the language to feel the passion of tango.
After the tango performance, you will return to the hotel for the evening.
DAY 4
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before checking out (by 12nn) and transferring to the Ezeiza International Airport for your flight home. Transfers will be set up based on the flight details provided. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage is available at the hotel.

DAY 1
After disembarking the ship in Buenos Aires, you will be met and transferred to the Buenos Aires domestic airport.
Bring only what is necessary for the next few days for the trip to El Calafate, including medications, valuables and documents. The bulk of your luggage will be collected when you disembark and brought to your hotel in Buenos Aires for storage. Please pack accordingly before disembarking and make sure that all bags to be left in storage are labeled with your name and ship cabin number.
When your flight lands in El Calafate, you will transfer to the 4-star Xelena Hotel in El Calafate. Located in the southwestern tip of the Argentine Patagonia, the town is known for its easy access to the Los Glaciares National Park, home of the spectacular Perito Moreno glacier and hundreds of others.
After lunch on own, set off on a true 4×4 expedition with a skilled driver where you will access the most remote places of Deep Patagonia. Leaving from El Calafate drive to the south and reach panoramic points from which you will contemplate the immensity of the landscape. In view are the Verlika and Baguales hills that mark the southern limit with Chile.
Fossilized oyster reefs, unexplored chenques (Tehuelches burial sites), various native flora and fauna are some of the natural riches that you will see along the way.
Finally, arrive at Estancia 25 de Mayo – an authentic Patagonian house located 800 meters above sea level. Here, enjoy dinner before returning to the Xelena Hotel for the evening.
DAY 2
Following breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to Los Glaciares National Park, an expansive protected area covered by an ice mantle. After reaching the Patagonic Andean Forest, you will pause for photos at the Curve of Sighs, a lookout where you will have the first view of the Perito Moreno Glacier rising majestically above the landscape.
Next proceed to the "Bajo de las Sombras" port located 7km from the glacier catwalks. Once there, board a large catamaran style boat to navigate the Lago Rico where you will be able to appreciate the amazing walls of the Perito Moreno Glacier, its icebergs and its continuous and thunderous collapses over the Lago Rico. One stop is made approximately 300 meters (984 feet) from the southern wall of the glacier, to take a closer look at the landscape.
Return to the National Park for lunch at one of its restaurants. After lunch approach the glacier by walking down catwalks that will present several other panoramic viewpoints of this wonderful creation of Mother Nature. Chances are, you will see and hear large chunks of ice calving from the glacier and thundering into the water of Lago Argentino. It will be an experience that you will not soon forget.
After this day, which is sure to amaze, all guests will return to the hotel, where dinner will be served.
DAY 3
Following breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the airport for the flight back to Buenos Aires. Depending on flight arrival time either proceed to your hotel for lunch on own with a city tour in the afternoon or proceed to the hotel with a panoramic city tour en-route.
Guests will be re-united with any stored luggage at this time.
Points of interest you may see on the city tour include the main square Plaza de Mayo, which is surrounded by the Casa Rosada presidential headquarters, the colonial town hall and the cathedral. You may also drive to Caminito and see the colorful tin houses of La Boca and proceed through the elegant Barrio Norte on the way to the Recoleta Cemetery, an above-ground cemetery lined with mausoleums and statues. No visit to Buenos Aires would be complete without a stop at the famous Biela Café – one of the most historic and prestigious bars in the city is also a favorite meeting place for Buenos Aires citizens. (the number of sites seen will be dependent on the arrival time of your flight).
Back at your hotel the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.
