Description

Follow a mysterious character through the cobblestone streets of Old Town in the dead of night and hear tales of terror that will raise goosebumps on even the most skeptical people. As you walk through the medieval Gamla Stan district of Stockholm, the guide – dressed in black from top hat to shoes – will regale you stories of murder and mayhem. Gamla Stan will look especially eerie in the evening in the dim light from the guide’s lantern. You may hear about particularly gruesome public executions, political murders of people who insulted the king and fatal fights between intoxicated townspeople. The Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520 is even more infamous as more than 80 people were either beheaded or hanged in Stortorget, the square that is still a main gathering place. Much of Old Town is supposedly haunted including the Royal Palace, where spectral figures such as the White Lady have been seen.
