  • Explore historical and modern landmarks in Tokyo and then travel south to Hakone for a lake cruise in the shadow of Mt. Fuji and an enlightening visit to a meticulously reconstructed 15th-Century castle.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo, you will be met at the exit of the Custom’s area. Transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Meals are on your own.

Please note that check in time at the hotel is at 4:00pm.

Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have a very early morning arrival you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available when you arrive.

NOTE: In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. Per Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program.

For guests on Explorer's March 6 sailing, the group will stay at the Conrad Tokyo as the Hilton is not available.

    DAY 2

After checking out of the hotel, you will enjoy a half-day tour of Tokyo starting with a visit to the Meiji Jingu Shinto Shrine. Built to venerate Emperor Meiji, who reigned from 1852-1912, it is the largest and most visited shrine in Japan, in part because of its beautiful park-like setting and the fact that Meiji is revered as Japan’s first modern emperor.

Then it’s on to Tokyo Tower, Japan’s second highest structure, which was built in 1958 as a symbol of Japan’s rebirth. After riding an elevator to the nearly 500-foot-high Grand Observation Platform, you will be treated to an astounding view of the city. If the sky is clear, you can see Mt. Fuji.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to your Odawara hotel to relax at your leisure. A bountiful buffet dinner will be served at the hotel. However, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please before you spend the evening at the hotel.

    DAY 3

Today, you will visit Hakone, a part of the Fuji National Park. Upon arriving at Sounzan, you will board the Ropeway, an aerial tram that affords you wonderful views of the Owakudani Valley. In time, you will stop at Lake Ashi for a scenic cruise. The crystal-clear lake was formed about 3,000 years ago in the caldera left after the volcanic eruption of Mount Hakone. If the conditions are ideal, as they often are, you will see Mt. Fuji and its inverted reflection on the water.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. On the return to the hotel, you will stop at Odawara Castle, which was originally built in the mid-15th Century. The structure was destroyed in the latter half of the 19th century when political power changed from the Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, and the castle was condemned as the symbol of the samurai.

The castle that now stands is a reconstruction from 1960. However, the moat and stone walls are originals. The castle is a three-tiered, five-storied donjon, and its top floor is an observatory.

A traditional Japanese Kaiseki (multi course) dinner will be served at your hotel this evening.

    DAY 4

After checking out of the hotel, you will be transferred to cruise terminal to embark the ship.

There are a total of approximately 120,000 objects of which 89 are National Treasures and 649 Important Cultural Properties.

Continue to the Ginza area, one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world. The streets in Ginza are lined with numerous departments stores, boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Upon arrival you will enjoy some free time to browse, shop or perhaps visit some of the free galleries.

You can choose to either remain in Ginza and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will begin yet another half-day tour of Tokyo, allowing you to see the city from a different perspective.

You will first journey to the Asakusa area – part of Tokyo’s Old Town. Visit the Asakusa Senso-ji Temple, which was founded in the early 7th century. Weather permitting, you will enter through a gate decorated with a huge red paper lantern to view the shrine. The architecture is stunning, as this temple is the country’s oldest and one of the most revered. One of the highlights is a walk down Nakamise-dori, known as the “Street of Inside Shops,” an alley lined with vendors selling traditional food, souvenirs, and handmade crafts.

You will have a photo stop at the Imperial Palace Plaza (no interior visit), where Japan’s Emperor and Empress reside. Surrounded by a moat, the palace was formerly known as Edo Castle, and samurai warriors lived there in the 17th through 19th centuries. In the large plaza in front of the palace, you can view the famed Nijubashi—two bridges that form an entrance to the inner palace grounds. The stone bridge in front is called Meganebashi (Eyeglass Bridge) for its looks.

You can choose to either remain in the area and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

After breakfast and check-out, you will visit Meiji Shrine. Dedicated to the Emperor Meiji, the father of modern Japan, the beautiful shrine stands in a dense forest glade of some 120,000 trees of 365 different species, at the very heart of Tokyo. The setting symbolizes the separation of the spiritual from the worldly. You enter the shrine through twin 40-feet tall Torii gates, one of the largest in all Japan. This shrine is a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings, if you are lucky, you might get to see one.

From the peaceful green oasis surrounding Meiji Shrine you will continue to the beautiful Hamarikyu Garden, an Edo Period Japanese garden surrounded by the Shiodome district’s futuristic skyscrapers. This provides a great example of how Japan is the land of contrasts. The garden was originally built as a feudal lord's Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period, but later served as a strolling garden and as an Imperial detached palace before eventually being opened to the public in its current form.

Continue to the modern Odaiba area. When the sprawling metropolis, that is Tokyo nowadays, ran out of space, they inevitably turned toward the sea. Odaiba is a man-made island created by massive landfills, featuring many hypermodern and strange buildings memorably described as the result of a Pre-schooler’s architecture class. You will have the chance to enjoy it from above, during a visit to an observation deck, located in one of Odaiba’s most iconic buildings: the headquarters of Fuji Television.

It is then on to the cruise ship terminal for embarkation.

    NOTE:

The day the Tokyo National Museum & the Odaiba Observation deck are visited varies, as both are closed on Mondays.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in Laem Chabang, collect your luggage and meet your guide. Start your program with a visit to the Ancient City, built on a 200-acre site. During your tour you will see the numerous reproductions of palace halls, temples, stupas, stone sanctuaries, and traditional houses. You can also see several reconstructed historical buildings, authenticated communities with their daily chores and sample villages from all regions of the country.

Due to the enormous size of this fascinating attraction, you will view most of the city from the local tram, although some stops will be made along the way for interior or close-up looks at some of the sites such as the Old Market Town, Khao Phra Vihan (Preah Vihear), Sanphet Prasart Palace.

Following your two-hour visit at the Ancient City, continue to your hotel for check in.

The Shangri-La has a prime location nestled along the Chao Phraya River. With direct access to the SkyTrain, public ferries terminal and buses, the hotel is the perfect gateway to explore and discover Bangkok.

The sun can be quite intense, and the air becomes hazier with the rising humidity. Though sometimes quite hot, the lack of rain still leaves this good time of year to visit the temples.

    What to Bring:

On this tour the key words are comfortable and casual. Remember we are visiting a foreign country and local dress codes should be observed. Please avoid uncovered shoulders, shorts or revealing clothing. Trousers or pants covering the knees are required to be worn when visiting Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple. Although dinners are not formal, you may want to bring something a bit dressier for that time of day.

Bring a hat or a head covering for sun protection and don’t forget your suntan lotion, sunglasses and bug spray (you should have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset hours). It’s also a good idea to bring along a small packet of tissues or wet wipes. It is also suggested that guests wear flat comfortable walking shoes (not sandals or open toed shoes / flip flops). Guest are requested to take-off their footwear and hats when visiting religious sites.

    Currency:

Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most commonly accepted in Cambodia. The local currency is the Cambodian Riel. You should take smaller denominations of US Dollars with you, as they will keep you from ending up with a lot of local change that you will not be able to re-exchange back home.

    Electricity:

Rooms are equipped with 220-volt, two-pin US style electrical outlets. We recommend travelling with your own adaptor kits should you have electronic devices.

Water: Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Bangkok and Siem Reap is potable.

    Luggage:

Light luggage would be most suited for this 3-night trip. Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense. If you wish you can store excess luggage with our local ground operator in Bangkok at the hotel. Please ensure that all excess bags are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship. You will be re-united with it on Day 3. Please pack accordingly as bags will be separated when you disembark the ship.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

    1. Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

    2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

    3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at RSSC at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

    4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

  • Immerse yourself in the Mekong Delta, visiting Cai Be village, navigating through mangrove-lined canals, and exploring traditional local workshops. Experience the vibrant energy of Cai Rang floating market and the natural beauty of Tra Su Cajuput Forest, all while gaining insight into Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage and daily life.

Note: On this program guests must be able to ride a bicycle.

DAY 1 – November 25, 2025 Upon disembarking your ship, a local representative will greet you at the gangway and escort you to your comfortable coach for a memorable journey through the Mekong Delta.

Experience village life along the picturesque Mekong Delta, just a three-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. Travel through the idyllic Vietnamese countryside to Cai Be, a village nestled among crisscrossing rivers and canals.

Start with a brief visit to Cai Be town and its ancient church by boat, then continue to Tân Phong Island for a peaceful boat journey (rowboat with navigator) through smaller canals, shaded by mangrove trees. At a local garden, enjoy fresh fruit and hot tea while listening to traditional music.

Next, embark on a leisurely bicycle ride along village paths, experiencing daily life in the Mekong Delta as you pass orchards, schools, churches, pagodas, and traditional houses. Pause to observe locals weaving dried water-hyacinth into various products like baskets, bags, hats, wallets, and shoes.

Cross the mighty Mekong River by boat to An Bình Island, navigating handmade canals to Ut Trinh home for lunch at a traditional house. Afterward, explore the local village, visiting workshops where rice paper, coconut candy, and pop-rice are made, and enjoy some sweets with a cup of hot tea.

Finally, visit brick kilns to see how clay is transformed into beautiful pottery. Conclude at the new boat station in Vinh Long city, after which you'll continue by bus to Can Tho for an overnight stay.

Enjoy dinner at your hotel restaurant before retiring for the evening.

DAY 2 – November 26, 2025 As the saying goes, "The early bird catches the worm," and mornings in the Mekong Delta begin at the crack of dawn. Start your day with a boat ride to Cai Rang floating market, a lively marketplace on the water where vendors and buyers negotiate over fresh fruits and vegetables from their wooden boats.

The market is a vibrant scene in the early hours, filled with locally grown produce like oranges, pineapples, coconuts, and watermelons. After exploring the market, enjoy tasting seasonal fresh fruits at a local orchard before returning to your hotel for breakfast.

Following breakfast, check out of your hotel and set off for Chau Doc. Along the way, stop at the Binh Thuy house, a French colonial mansion built in 1870, featured in films such as "The Silt Ways," "The Bac Lieu Mandarin’s Son," and "The Lover."

After lunch at a local restaurant, continue your journey to Tra Su Cajuput Forest, a tranquil sanctuary located about a short drive from Chau Doc. This vast natural ecosystem is home to mangroves and a variety of wildlife, including birds, storks, bats, snakes, and turtles. Explore the forest's beauty by taking a motorboat through moss-covered canals to the forest center, then climb to the observation deck for stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and forests.

After your adventure, return to town and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant with a breathtaking view of rice fields from the top of the sacred Sam Mountain.

End your day by checking in at your hotel and enjoying dinner.

    DAY 3 – November 27, 2025

Here, you will visit the Southern Gate of Angkor Thom and the famous Bayon Complex, whose giant stone faces have become one of the most recognizable images connected to classic Khmer art and architecture. Walk amidst the moss-peppered cobbled pathways, gaze up at the intricately carved tower tops and perhaps climb the steep and narrow temple steps that lead to wide courtyards. Lose yourself in contemplation as you catch the rays of the sun dancing off the bas relief carvings at sunset, the chatter of monkeys reverberating off the temple walls.
