Land Programs & Hotels

  • Explore Bangkok like a local as you discover its temples, markets and the secrets of traditional Thai canal life. Tour several sites by tuk-tuk, including Chinatown, a fragrant flower market and striking Wat Po, the oldest temple in Bangkok and also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. During a canal cruise, discover floating shops, teakwood houses and hidden temples as you glide among Thonburi’s complex network of canals. Also, visit The Jim Thompson House, a private Thai-style residence that now serves as a museum.

    Day 1

After arriving at the Bangkok International Airport and proceeding through luggage claim and Customs, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the Bangkok city center. Check in is at 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you be arriving very early in the morning you may wish to book an extra night, so your room is ready upon your arrival.

A Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk will be available at the hotel providing local information and optional sightseeing tours that can be booked.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure and meals are on your own.

    Day 2

Following breakfast at the hotel you will begin your exploration of Bangkok by coach, traveling through vibrant China Town, Bangkok's commercial center for more than 200 years while en route to Pak-Klong-Talad.

Here, you'll be treated to a short stroll through the amazing kaleidoscope of colorful blooms and perfumed scents of what is considered the city's primary flower market.

Next you will have the opportunity to experience travelling through the old city of Bangkok like a local - via Tuk Tuk - a 3-wheeled motorized taxi that truly puts you in the heart of the action and allows you to fully absorb the atmosphere of this fabulous city.

Your next stop is at Wat Po, or the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, the oldest temple in Bangkok. This popular temple is where you will find Thailand's largest reclining Buddha. Incredibly the grounds house over 1,000 Buddha images. The focal point of your tour is an opportunity to visit the immense gold-plated Buddha that extends to a length of 150 feet and rises to a height of 49 feet.

Continuing, you'll next venture to a high-quality shop where you can take time to browse for souvenirs. Thailand is famous for its beautiful Thai silk, jewelry and local handicrafts and the shop offers a diverse selection

    of merchandise for your perusal.

Return to your hotel where you can freshen up and enjoy lunch on your own.

This afternoon, embark on a tour of the city by canal. Board a local river boat for an enlightening cruise along the bustling Chao Phaya River and through the complex network of klongs (canals) in the Thonburi district. Along the way, you will enjoy picturesque scenes of traditional Thai canal life, including floating grocery stores, speeding water taxis, teakwood houses built on stilts and hidden temples.

Your first stop is at the Royal Barge Museum which houses the ornately decorated longboats that were once used for royal functions. Here, you can see the lavish Suphanahonge, a gold encrusted swan-shaped barge used solely

by the king. In addition to Suphanahong, there are many other fascinating and unique barges on display, each revealing a remarkable degree of exquisite craftsmanship.

Leaving the Museum, you'll next travel to Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn. The Temple is one of the most well-known and popular tourist attractions in Bangkok and you'll have some time to stroll around the lovely temple

grounds and view the various decorative murals.

Arrive back at the hotel where the remainder of your day is at leisure and dinner is on your own.

    Day 3

Following breakfast, visit the former residence of Princess Chumbot of Nakhon Sawan – Wang Suan Pakkard. The Palace is a collection of five traditional Thai-style houses including the "Lacquer Pavilion" which dates from the Ayutthaya period. The buildings are now home to a priceless Asian antique collection and exquisite wood carvings.

Continue with a visit to the private Thai-style house of Jim Thompson, the "father" of the famous Thai silk industry. The house now survives as a museum after the mysterious disappearance of the legendary Mr.

Thompson in Malaysia. On display in the main house is his splendid small Asian art collection as well as his personal belongings.

Return to the hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    Day 4

Following breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will be transferred to the ship in Laem Chabang to begin the cruise.

  • Just outside Cambodia’s Siem Reap, a unique and thrilling adventure awaits you in the jungles of Angkor, where you can uncover the rich history and grand architecture of the Khmer Empire. Obscured by dense vegetation for centuries, the glorious temples of Angkor comprise one of the world’s largest religious monuments. The most famous is the enormous Angkor Wat, whose soaring walls are covered with intricate carvings. You will also pass through the imposing gates of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, to explore the renowned Bayon Temple.

    Please note:

-There is extensive walking over uneven ground at the temple sites - at times up to 2 km, with steps at Bayon and Angkor Wat. This tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulty or if confined to a wheelchair. It can also be very hot and humid there.

-Cambodian visa fee is included in the tour and will be applied upon arrival at Siem Reap Airport

-Flight schedules are subject to change thus the tour sequence may vary

-Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    DAY 1

After flying into the Bangkok’s International Airport, you will be met outside of Customs and transferred to your hotel. Check in is at 3:00pm, and while every effort will be made to have rooms available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early arrival time you may wish to book an extra night so that a room is ready upon your arrival.

You will spend the remainder of the day settling in and enjoying the amenities at your hotel or the sites of the city. Meals are on your own today.

A Regent Seven Seas Hospitality Desk will be located in the hotel where you can find local information or sightseeing options.

    DAY 2

Following check out you will transfer to the Bangkok International Airport. Upon arrival, proceed through check-in for your flight to Siem Reap. You will be accompanied on the flight by a representative from our local ground agency.

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and assisted with obtaining your Cambodian Entry Visa. You will then proceed to the Angkor Site to collect your temple passes which are required for touring. Once this has been issued, board your coach for the transfer to your hotel for check-in and lunch on your own.

NOTE: Your passport will be kept by our program operations team in order to process the visa on arrival and for exit procedures on departure day. Your passport will be safely returned to you on Day 4.

Later in the day, venture to the Angkor Wat Temple Complex – the highlight of this program. You will have approximately 2 hours to explore its archaeological treasures with your guide before returning to your hotel.

Your guide will point out the best spots for taking photos of this massive temple complex as you walk amidst the moss-peppered cobbled pathways, gaze up at the intricately carved tower tops and perhaps climb the steep and narrow temple steps that lead to wide courtyards. Lose yourself in contemplation as you catch the rays of the sun dancing off the bas relief carvings at sunset, the chatter of monkeys reverberating off the temple walls.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast, you will venture to the city of Angkor Thom including the renowned Bayon Temple built in the 12th Century, the Terrace of the Leper King and the Elephant Terrace, a sandstone wall covered with carved hunting scenes and three-headed elephants.

Continue to visit the un-restored temple of Ta Prohm which is famous for its forest atmosphere and enormous fig trees. This temple looks just as it did when the first European explorer arrived. It is also the location of many of the scenes filmed for Angelina Jolie’s huge blockbuster movie, Tomb Raider.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant and after lunch visit Artisans d’Angkor, a school for underprivileged youth where they are taught the ancient crafts of wood and stone carving, creating lacquer ware, painting and silk weaving. Stroll through the school to watch young Cambodian artisans learning a trade and continuing age-old traditions. Many of the students’ crafts are offered for sale in the school store, ranging from beautiful silks and stunning lacquer ware to elegant stone and wood carvings. All the proceeds go towards the running of the school.

Continue to look around The Old Market (Phsar Chas) - the most popular with tourists and visitors, offering the greatest selection of souvenirs, textiles, handicrafts, statues, and curios of any of the traditional markets.

Back at the hotel, enjoy dinner and an Apsara cultural show

Overnight at the Borei Angkor Resort or similar hotel

    DAY 4

Dependent on flight departure times from Siem Reap, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and settling any incidental charges that you may have incurred. Then transfer from your hotel to Siem Reap Airport for the flight back to Bangkok.

Upon arrival you will be met and assisted on to your transfer from the airport to the ship for embarkation. Any excess luggage left in Bangkok will be taken directly to the ship where you will be re-united with it once on board.

The sun can be quite intense, and the air becomes hazier with the rising humidity. Though sometimes quite hot, the lack of rain still leaves this good time of year to visit the temples.

    What to Bring:

*Please avoid uncovered shoulders, shorts or revealing clothing.

*Full length trousers or pants and/or skirts covering the knees are required to be worn when visiting Angkor Wat

Bring a hat or a head covering for sun protection and don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and bug spray (you should have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset hours). It’s also a good idea to bring along a small packet of tissues or wet wipes. It is also suggested that guests wear flat comfortable walking shoes (not sandals or open toed shoes / flip flops). Guest are requested to take-off their foot wear and hats when visiting religious sites.

    Currency:

Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most commonly accepted in Cambodia. The local currency is the Cambodian Riel. Electricity:

Rooms are equipped with 220-volt, two-pin US style electrical outlets. We recommend travelling with your own adaptor kits should you have electronic devices.

Water: Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Bangkok and Siem Reap is potable.

    Luggage:

Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be in excess and fees will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense.

If you wish you can store excess luggage in Bangkok at the hotel. It will be sent to the ship on Day 4. Please ensure that all excess bags are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship. Pack accordingly as excess bags will be collected before you leave Bangkok and you will be re-united with your luggage on day 4 on board the ship. Note that Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the hotel, nor our local ground operator are liable for any lost or missing items. We do not recommend leaving valuables behind or in checked luggage. You should keep any valuables with you in your carry-on hand bag.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

    1. Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

    2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

    3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at RSSC at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

    4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

  • Explore the most historical and modern landmarks in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and delve into desert life by racing through the dunes in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle before dining in a traditional Bedouin village.

    Day 1:

After disembarking the ship in Dubai, meet your guide and depart on a sightseeing tour to see some of the historical parts of Dubai.

Visit a museum housed in the 18th Century Al Fahidi Fort which features realistic displays and sound effects depicting various scenes providing a fascinating glimpse of the historical links of the city with trading and pearl diving.

Next, enjoy a ride across the famed Dubai creek in a local water taxi called an “abra” to see the bustling activities on the waterfront. This is followed by a visit to the aromatic spice souk and the extensive glittering gold souk where you can buy exquisite gold jewelry at prices lower than anywhere else in the world.

Before lunch, proceed to the Museum of The Future where you will step into the year 2071. Walk past exhibitions that straddle the past and future in a beautiful blend. Admire the gleaming 77-meter torus-shaped structure with

calligraphy panels all around. The absence of columns inside makes this structure quite a feat in modern engineering. Spread across five floors are five different chapters covering themes of climate change, ecology,

health, wellness, spirituality, imagination, and the future of space travel and living.

Enjoy lunch in a 5-star hotel before proceeding to your hotel for check in.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

    Day 2:

Enjoy breakfast at hotel before setting out for Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and named after a breed of gazelles by a Sheikh of the Bani Yas tribe. This magnificent city which was founded in 1761 is situated on a small peninsula surrounded by a cluster of islands.

Your tour today offers an ideal introduction to Abu Dhabi. The first stop is the magnificent Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi. The majestic Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque is probably the most imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi to date. It is also arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of contemporary UAE society - and one of the most beautiful in the world - initiated no less by the late president HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is fondly thought of as the father of UAE.

Also pay a visit to Qasr al Watan Palace. Prepare to walk through majestic hallways, uncover centuries of Arabian knowledge, marvel at the beauty of Arabian craftsmanship, express yourself with interactive installations, and delve into the region’s rich heritage of artistic contributions.

Following your enlightening visit at the Palace, the group will dine at a restaurant in the Jumeirah Etihad Towers. This is followed by a visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi – the first universal museum in the Arab world. This museum brings the Louvre name to Abu Dhabi and presents both ancient and contemporary works of historic, cultural, and sociological interest from around the world. Virtually surrounded by the sea, the dozens of buildings that comprise the museum are linked by waterfront promenades and by the museum’s most arresting feature – its dome. As sunlight filters through the dome’s perforations, it creates a “rain of light” effect in the museum galleries below.

Enjoy lunch in a five-star hotel before returning to Dubai where the remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

**Note: The Grand Mosque does not provide ladies a headscarf or abaya free of charge and there is no shop on sight to buy them. Ladies please come prepared with something to cover you head or entrance will unfortunately be denied. For men and women: no transparent clothing, no shorts or skirts, no sleeveless shirts, no clothing with profanity and no tight clothing (including leggings) or beachwear.

    Day 3:

Following breakfast at your hotel enjoy a morning at leisure to enjoy the facilities of the hotel or perhaps to do some exploring near your hotel. Lunch is on your own.

In the afternoon you will depart for an adventurous dune dinner safari. Experience the sheer thrill of driving up and down golden yellow sand dunes in comfortable 4-wheel drive vehicles. Drive past the Bedouin villages and stop at a camel camp to discuss the “news” of the day!

You will then enjoy some thrilling dune bashing with the experienced drivers over golden sand dunes.

Close to sunset, the group arrives at the sunset point where "time stands still". Experience the silence of the desert and watch the stunning vista of endless dunes and the magical desert sunset.

After sunset you will continue your journey deep into the desert until you reach the soft light of a Bedouin Village.

The campsite is specifically built to depict an authentic Bedouin Village with Barasti (dried palm leaves) tents. It is beautifully lit and decorated with rustic carpets and low tables with soft Arabic music in the background. Despite the rustic appeal, the campsite does have modern restroom facilities and basins with running water.

The campsite even has one area set-up with hubbly bubbly water pipes (Shisha’s) where you can relax and try a puff or two of this local favorite past time after your buffet barbeque dinner or you can watch a belly dancer as she dances to the rhythm of the music.

Following this fun filled Arabian evening you will head back to your hotel.

**Note: Guests do not drive. The dune dinner safari takes place in 4-wheel drive vehicles and the drive can be quite bumpy. This is not recommended for anyone with bad backs or if they are pregnant. We recommend having a light lunch prior to the commencement of the tour. Please wear casual clothing and bring a light sweater or jacket for the evening hours. This tour is subject to weather conditions. Seating for the dinner is on low divan cushions as per the typical Bedouin way of dining

    Day 4:

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Checkout and transfer to the Dubai International Airport according to your departure flight schedule. Check out time is 12:00 noon. Luggage storage facility is available at the hotel for those who are leaving by late flights. Guests with flights out of Abu Dhabi will be required to pay a surcharge for a transfer.

  • One of the best-known structures in the world, Agra’s fabled Taj Mahal will awe your senses and forever capture your heart. Considered to be the finest example of Mughal architecture, the Taj Mahal is a glistening mass of white marble and semi-precious stones set amid impeccably landscaped grounds. This program includes the opportunity to visit three UNESCO world heritage sites: the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri; all of which are legacies from Mughal times.

Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    DAY 1

After disembarkation from the ship in Cochin, you will proceed to the airport for your flight to Delhi.

Upon arrival at the Cochin airport, you will receive boarding passes and proceed through security. Your bags will be transported to the airport in a separate truck for an advance check-in. Dinner will be served on the flight.

On arrival in Delhi, transfer to your hotel for check-in.

Soup and finger sandwiches are served prior to retiring for the evening.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, check out and drive to Agra via the new Yamuna Expressway with vistas of India’s vast rural farming countryside.

Agra, the city of Taj Mahal was one of the grand cities of South Asia. With the arrival of the Mughals in 1526 led by Babur, Agra entered a completely new era during the reign of emperors Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jahan. Akbar made it a great center for learning, art, commerce and culture. Its cosmopolitan bazaars and its strategic location on the river Jamuna, was altogether a worthier setting for the focus of an empire.

Upon arrival in Agra check-in to your hotel. Oberoi Amarvilas is voted as one of the top three hotels of the world. Its classical architecture is complemented by elaborate Mughul gardens, terraced lawns, fountains, reflection pools and pavilions and every room has a frontal view of the Taj Mahal.

After lunch visit Agra Fort, a World Heritage Site credited to Emperor Akbar, India’s great visionary. His sons and theirs added to this imposing structure situated by the banks of the Yamuna River. The astonishing palaces, mosques and audience halls contained within its massive walls of red sandstone became once more a monumental mission of the Mughal Empire embellished by the artistic fusion of Islamic and Hindu tradition.

Back at your hotel, and after some time to freshen up, enjoy the classical dance form of Kathak in the ballroom. A buffet dinner follows the dance performance.

    Day 3

Enjoy tea, coffee, juices and rolls in the lobby before departing for the Taj Mahal. With its incredible lacy white grandeur, it is perhaps the most perfect architectural monument in the world. In memory of his wife, the great Mughal emperor Shah Jehan planned this most extravagant and incomparable monument built for love. Although amazingly graceful from any angle, it is the close-up detail, which is really astounding.

Return to your hotel for breakfast.

    Morning option following breakfast:

•Drive an hour into the Indian countryside to visit Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone former capital of the Mughal empire. The city lived between A.D. 1571 up to 1585 and then became a ghost town, abandoned, possibly due to complexities with the water systems.

•Visit the Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah in the old city, the first Mughal structure pioneering the extensive use

of `pietra dura’, the inlay work of marble, so characteristic of the Taj Mahal. This mausoleum is small and squat when compared to the Taj, but the more human scale has its own attraction, and the skillfully patterned surface of the tomb is exquisite.

    Afternoon Options following lunch:

•Visit the Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah as described above

•At the hotel, Agra’s leading astrologer will be available for consultation. Appointments for an analysis of your personal horoscope can be made at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk

•Take a look at some of Agra’s famous shopping …. Kohinoor, erstwhile jewelers to the Mughal court, featured in National Geographic. Old emerald necklaces, enamel, jewelry, silver, pocket watches in Gold and silver, textiles and embroidery form part of their private collection. The Marble Inlay factories steeped in this decorative art culture are also a specialty of Agra.

Later in the day revisit the Taj Mahal at sunset where the monument appears to change its hue, tinted by the glow of the setting sun.

Dinner will be served back at your hotel

    Day 4

Early this morning, return to Delhi for a flight to Mumbai. Tea, coffee, juices and rolls will be served in the lobby prior to departure.

At the airport, collect boarding passes and proceed through security and then onto the plane for the flight to Mumbai. A packed lunch is served at the airport and snacks are served on the flight.

  • Gain an extraordinary perspective of the gorgeous Pink City of Jaipur through its architectural highlights and observe iconic wildlife such as Bengal tigers on game drives in a national park.

Special Note: Guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC), CPAP breathing machines or scooters should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    Day 1

After disembarking the ship in Cochin and attending to immigration and customs formalities, you will proceed to the airport. Baggage is transported in a separate van to the airport for pre-check-in.

On arrival, receive boarding passes and pass through security before boarding a flight to Jaipur via Hyderabad. Refreshments and dinner will be served aloft.

Jaipur is the capital of the desert-like state of Rajasthan, a land rich in legends of romance, chivalry, sacrifice, and heroic deeds.

You will spend the night at the Jai Mahal Palace, the former residence of the Prime Minister. Its graceful architecture is uniquely Rajput, with cupolas, minarets, and arched doorways. Open-air verandahs spill out onto lovely grounds where peacocks strut.

    Day 2

Following breakfast, explore the Pink City, where an enduring charisma of the past blends with the throbbing vitality of today. The scholar and astronomer Jai Singh founded Jaipur centuries ago, and it is considered India’s first planned city. It is often called the Pink City for the predominant color of its buildings.

Continuing to old Jaipur, you will visit the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds, a fine example of Rajput artistry. It is constructed of red and pink sandstone, beautifully outlined with white borders and motifs painted with quick lime.

You will then head toward the City Palace, a sprawling structure surrounded by a high wall. The royal family lives in a portion of the palace. Other areas have been converted into museums displaying textiles, costumes, paintings, and carpets.

Across from the palace, you will find the open-air royal observatory Jantar Mantar, an esteemed World Heritage site. Jai Singh ordered its construction in the 18th century. It contains the world’s largest stone sundial, among other astronomical instruments.

As a traditional center of commerce, Jaipur has a variety of attractions, many best explored individually. Bustling bazaars are laden with souvenirs, carpets, world famous gems and jewelry, the specialty being traditional hand block printed fabric, antique textiles, and handicrafts.

After lunch, take a 3 ½ hour drive through the countryside to the famous tiger sanctuary at Ranthambore.

Check-in to the Vanyavilas, designed as a `Jungle Camp’ and lies adjacent to the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. The resort is set in nineteen acres with an emphasis on maintaining the natural environment with well-established trees, flora, and a large water body. There’s an orchard of lemon, guava, and mango trees, along with a viewing tower facing the sanctuary.

Your accommodation will be in a spacious luxury tent with a beautifully appointed interior and a private deck.

Dinner and overnight at Oberoi Vanyavilas.

    Day 3

Coffee, tea, and rolls are served at dawn before proceeding on a drive through the park in a Jeep or canter safari vehicle with expert naturalists. They will point out and describe the great diversity of birds, mammals, and major predators.

The deep gorges of Ranthambore serve as hideouts for animals such as leopards, tigers and sloth bears. The forest also provides a natural habitat for spotted deer and sambar, the largest Asiatic deer. Woodland, ground and water birds are plentiful, including red junglefowl. Although Ranthambore was once a hunting ground for Bengal tigers, it has become a research and conservation area for these magnificent animals, especially in the last decade or so.

The 10th-century Ranthambore Fort that overlooks the reserve is so historically important that UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage site. You may notice various animals resting on its ancient ramparts.

Return to the resort for breakfast and a morning at leisure.

You may choose to visit Dastkar, an extraordinary center for crafts, the majority of them created by women as their sole means of income. The bazaar at Dastkar helps the local villagers become self-reliant, as the craftspeople sell their products independent of a commercial middleman. You will view them creating a huge variety of traditional items by hand.

Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy a second game drive, exploring yet another area of the national park with a naturalist guide.

Return to the resort at dusk.

Lunch, dinner, and overnight at the Oberoi Vanyavilas.

    Day 4

After an early breakfast and check-out from the hotel, you will drive to the airport for a flight to Mumbai. A packed lunch will be served at the Jaipur airport and refreshments served aloft.

Upon arrival in Mumbai, you are met and transferred to the port to re-embark the ship.

Baggage is transported in a separate van to the pier.
