Discover Bali's religion, picturesque sites, cuisine and people during this memorable visit to the island's interior.
Depart the pier for the drive to the interior of Bali, the Island of the Gods. Along the way, stops will be made to photograph local temples and interesting sites that may include villagers clad in colorful ceremonial dress, a steeply-terraced verdant hillside and more.
During your tour, you will also learn about Bali's Hindu Dharma religion. This unique blend of Hinduism, Buddhism and ancestral worship has evolved over the centuries, and today combines outside influences with its ancient rites and practices. A stop will be made at Kerta Gosa, the ancient Court of Justice at Semarapura, which features exquisitely-painted ceilings. Other scheduled stops will include the Kehen Temple at Bangli and Neka Gallery, which is located near the artists' hub of Ubud.
Next, you will proceed for a typical Balinese set-menu buffet lunch at the Tepi Sawah restaurant, which is nestled on the hillside overlooking the canyon of the Ayung River. After lunch, your guide will introduce you to a typical Balinese compound, maybe that of his own family, where you will have an opportunity to acquaint yourself with the local Balinese lifestyle.
Your tour will conclude with a stop at an artists' village, along with some free time to browse for souvenirs before re-boarding your coach for the return drive to the pier.
Please note: We strongly recommend wearing cool, light clothing, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Entry into most temples requires that your knees be covered. If they are not, an attendant will provide you with a sarong. Regardless of what you are wearing, you will be provided with a temple sash to be worn around the waist for the duration of your visit.
