Discover a touch of Venice during this scenic tour of historic Zhujiajiao.

Depart the pier for the 1.5 hour drive to Zhujiajiao, or Pearl Stream, an ancient town with a history dating back over 1,700 years. Zhujiajiao is the best-preserved among the four ancient towns in Shanghai. Its unique old bridges over bubbling streams, small rivers shaded by willow trees and houses with attached courtyards offer a relaxed, tranquil environment.

Upon arrival, you will take a tour of this fascinating little town, and view the stone and wooden structures known for their simplicity and elegance.

The highlight of this tour is a boat ride through the waters of Zhujiajiao that will enable you to better appreciate its delicate bridges, old residences and peaceful way of life on the water. You will then continue on to Daqingyouju, a post office in the Qing Dynasty, and the only remnant of its kind in East China. Your tour will conclude with a visit to a rice museum, where you will view various types of rice, and the process by which it is prepared for sale.

Afterward, you will rejoin your coach for the return drive to the pier and ship.
