Crystal Caves & Tuckers Town Drive
Duration: 2 1/2 hours
Tour Code: SBD-006
Boarding a van at the pier, this tour first takes you past the Botanical Gardens on your way to Crystal Caves, an amazing natural grotto of stalactites and stalagmites, flood lit for your viewing pleasure. So named because of the crystal clear azure blue water that flows through the cave and forms a lake, it is so clear that you can actually see the cave's floor which is 55 feet below the surface of the water. This intriguing and fascinating attraction was actually discovered by accident when two local boys that were searching for a lost ball accidentally stumbled across the cave in 1907. Descending eighty-one steps to the floor of the cave, you'll then proceed on a wooden pontoon that has been constructed over the waters of the lake. Be sure to have your guide point out the original entrance the boys lowered themselves from which appears as a small skylight in the cave's roof.
Following your visit to the Caves, your driver/guide will take you on a wonderful overview to the exclusive residential area of Tuckers Town. Real estate in this area begins at around ten million dollars and culminates in 'Billionaires Row' where you'll see homes of some of the world's wealthiest people, including the waterfront estates of Ross Perot and New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. Get a close-up look at these pristine estates with their well-manicured lawns and rambling mansions in this gated community that is home to the rich and famous.
Following your drive through Tuckers Town, you will transfer back to the pier.
Please note: To enter the cave you must descend down 81 steps and then proceed over pontoon bridges. The tour is not available to guests who utilize a wheelchair and not recommended for those guests with mobility concerns. A light jacket and comfortable, flat comfortable walking shoes are strongly suggested.
