Flåm, Norway-port

Flam is a Norwegian village at the inner end of the Aurlandsfjord, an arm of the Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, Flam is a paradise for everyone looking for a spectacular experience with nature. Many visitors enjoy the spectacular Flamsbana railway between Flam and Myrdal, one of the steepest railway tracks in the world. A former rail station building in Flam now houses a museum dedicated tot the Flamsbana railway.

Enjoy exploring the scenic countryside around Flåm on this relaxing tour.

Arriving by tender, you will find your coach waiting. After boarding, you will commence by driving along the fjord to the village of Aurland. This typical fjord village is rich in traditions and an old church from the 13th century is the village's focal point.

From Aurland, you travel inland and along the Aurland River, well known for its salmon fishing. Continue up the beautiful Aurland Valley with its abundance of native flora and fauna. Your destination is Østerbø Mountain Farm, which was permanently inhabited up until the late 1920s. However at that time, the farm was completely cut off from the rest of the world during the winter, which ranged from six to eight months. Østerbø is nestled among majestic mountains and situated next to a scenic lake fed by waterfalls. During your visit you will be treated to coffee and waffles, accompanied with jam and sour cream.

After your enjoyable visit to the Farm, you will re-board your coach and travel back to the pier in Flåm where your tour concludes.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 45 minutes of walking and/or standing, and is not considered suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and. There are 4 - 5 steps which must be negotiated at the farm; there is not a ramp available. A windbreaker or light jacket and comfortable, flat walking shoes are recommended.
