Aiges Mortes Experience

Light Activity /Walking

Duration: 4 hours

Tour Code: STE-003

Before arriving in Aigues-Mortes, you will drive past La Grande Motte, a new resort with impressive pyramid-style buildings. It stands in lovely contrast to Aigues-Mortes, a wonderfully preserved, fortified city that was built in the 13th century. Located in the heart of the Petite Camargue, Aigues-Mortes originally served as the departure point for the crusades of Saint Louis. It still has a grand sense of medievalism, especially Constance Tower, a majestic castle that overlooks the surrounding marshes. During the guided walking tour of Aigues-Mortes, you will learn about the city's fascinating history, including its rich legacy of bullfighting. You will also enjoy free time to explore on your own, perhaps shopping or following the city's protective ramparts.
