Dubrovnik, Croatia-port

Known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th century by a group of refugees from Epidaurum (today’s Cavtat). It is known worldwide for its unique marble-paved squares, tall houses, steep-cobbled streets and fountains. The city walls, once used to as protection against its enemies, now keep motorists at bay in this picturesque town. UNESCO named the Old City a World Heritage Site, and Dubrovnik’s beautiful historic sites have been restored to their former glory.

Bicycle Adventure in Konavle Valley

Most Active or Strenuous

Duration: 4 1/2 hours

Tour Code: DBV-005

Board the coach at the port in Dubrovnik and continue along the Adriatic Road through the scenic and picturesque Dubrovnik countryside toward the Dubravka Village

From Dubravka Village, you will be met by professional staff that will give you a tour introduction. After approximately 15 minutes of preparation, your biking adventure will begin. This ride through the countryside is very scenic, passing through vineyards and along the Ljuta River. En route, you will visit an old mill where you will be welcomed with dry figs, cheese, Dalmatian prosciutto, fresh natural squeezed juice, coffee and cake. Your host will introduce his 15th century mill, as well as the traditional ways of olive oil production. After a snack and olive oil tasting, you will continue to the wine tasting facility Brajkovic.

On the way you will view the magnificent mountain Snjeznica, and the fortress of Soko, the largest and most important fortress from the times of the Dubrovnik Republic. The wine tasting facility Brajkovic is located in Zastolje, on a knoll surrounded by cypress and vineyards. After the wine tasting, you will return to Dubrovnik.

Please note: You will cover approximately 5 miles by bicycle. The total time on the bicycle is approximately 1 1/2 hours, which includes frequent stops. Participants should be comfortable riding a bike and be physically fit, as some of the terrain is very bumpy.
