The Ancient, Exotic and Dynamic Pacific Rim

Ports and Excursions of Asia/Pacific

San Francisco, United States-port

From the first Spanish Mission founded by the “Sacred Expedition” in 1776, to the rip-roaring days of the Barbary Coast and California Gold Rush to rising phoenix-like after the great earthquake of 1906, San Francisco never ceases to please the eye, the heart and the palate. With such iconic sites as Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Victorian architecture of Pacific Heights, Union Square, colorful trolley cars, Muir Woods and the surrounding vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Valley, the “City by the Bay” is always a must-see on any visitor’s list to the West Coast.

Duration: 2 1/2 hours

Tour Code: SFO-001

San Francisco is especially magical during the holiday season and this tour not only gives you a nice overview of the city, but also focuses on the colorful decorations of the season.

Boarding your coach at the pier, you will first set-off for a drive through the Italian neighborhood of North Beach and from there it's on to Chinatown, one of the largest Chinese communities outside of Asia. Discover the holiday décor of Union Square, a true shopping mecca, where you will stop to enjoy the richly decorated windows of the stores, the decked out tree in Union Squire, the ice rink and more.

Rejoining your coach, it's time to view exciting San Francisco by night. Your route this evening will take you past the glittering lights of Fisherman's Wharf and you will have the opportunity to view Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower, the Broadway Strip, and the historic Ferry Building. Travel across the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island and savor a breathtaking view of the city by night from this wonderful vantage point before it's time to return to the ship.

Please note: This tour is mostly panoramic and includes minimal walking. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have a companion to assist them. The average evening temperature in San Francisco at this time of year is 40 degrees Fahrenheit and guests should dress in weather appropriate clothing. Flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
