Enjoy a sampling of Nagoya's past and present in this tour that showcases a culturally significant ancient shrine as well as a museum that celebrates Japan's innovations in technology.

Starting off from the pier, your coach will make its way through the center of Nagoya, en route to the Atsuta Shrine, which is considered one of the most important in Japan next to the Ise Jingu Shrine. Believed to have been originally founded in the 3rd century, it went through several renovations and was nearly destroyed by fire during the bombings of World War II. Reconstruction of the Shrine was completed in 1955, with other buildings being added over the years, including the Treasure Hall which houses the Shrine's impressive collection of artifacts. The Shrine is also where you can find the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, an ancient sword which is considered one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan, the others being the Mirror at Ise Jingu Shrine and the crown jewels at the Imperial Palace. During your visit, you will come to understand why it has earned the nickname of "The Holy Island" as its quiet and serene setting in the midst of lush greenery has made it a peaceful oasis in the center of a bustling city.

From here, you will re-board your coach and make your way to the Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Founded by 13 companies of the Toyota Group, the Museum's aim is to reveal to visitors how things are made in the textile and automobile industries while showing how far things have progressed in the fields of industry and technology. The Museum houses as many as 4,000 exhibits and is divided into two sections, one covering textile machinery, and the other focused on the automobile industry. Along the way, there are demonstrations taking place and informative videos that help to give visitors an insight into creative process and progression of manufacturing technology within these two key industries in Japan.

Following your museum visit, you will re-join your coach for the drive back to the pier where your tour concludes.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of walking and there are cobblestone surfaces at the Shrine. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have a companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. It is recommended that participants bring local currency (Japanese Yen) for any purchases they may wish to make. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
