Average mid-day temperatures can hover to upper 30s C (85-90 F), especially in inland areas like Siem Reap. It is less breezy at this time of year, the sun can be quite intense and the air becomes hazier with the rising humidity. Though sometimes quite hot, the lack of rain still leaves this good time of year to visit the temples.
What to Bring:
On this tour the key words are comfortable and casual. Remember we are visiting a foreign country and local dress codes should be observed. Please avoid uncovered shoulders, shorts or revealing clothing. Trousers or pants covering the knees are required to be worn when visiting Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple. Although dinners are not formal, you may want to bring something a bit dressier for that time of day.
Bring a hat or a head covering for sun protection and don’t forget your suntan lotion, sunglasses and bug spray (you should have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset hours). It’s also a good idea to bring along a small packet of tissues or wet wipes. It is also suggested that guests wear flat comfortable walking shoes (not sandals or open toed shoes / flip flops). Guest are requested to take-off their foot wear and hats when visiting religious sites.
Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most commonly accepted in Cambodia. The local currency is the Cambodian Riel and the current exchange rate is KHR$4103.02 to USD$1.00 (correct at time of writing). You may want to take smaller denominations of US Dollars with you, as they will keep you from ending up with a lot of local change that you will not be able to re-exchange back home, or on board the ship.
Rooms are equipped with 220-volt, two-pin US style electrical outlets.
Water: Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Bangkok and Siem Reap is potable.
Local Custom: As a matter of courtesy you are asked not to raise your voice nor must you ever show anger as this is deemed in local culture as being very ill mannered.
Luggage Weight Restrictions: 20kg (44lbs) - Light luggage would be most suited for this 3 night trip. Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense.
If you wish you can store excess luggage with our local ground operator in Singapore. Excess luggage will be stored in a secure location and then brought to the ship on Day 4 for embarkation. Please ensure that all bags are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship.
Two passport sized photos should be brought with you. One for visa formalities upon arrival and one for your temple pass. Photos are generally taken electronically for the Temple Passes, however, having a backup is always a good idea. Photos should be 3x4 or 4x4 or 5x5 each
To enter Bangkok, any Mexican Nationals will need a Visa in advance of entering Thailand.
Guests must carry a valid passport with at least 6 months validity and spare pages for the Cambodian Visa. Visas will be issued on arrival. As mentioned above, one passport sized photograph will be required.
