Discover the beautiful medieval town of Josselin and its marvelous castle on this lovely half-day tour.
Boarding your coach at the pier, you will enjoy a scenic drive into the heart of the Porhoêt region. Arriving in Josselin, you will commence a guided walking tour of this charming village, with its wonderful historic homes, many of which date back to the 16th and 17th century. Josselin is also the home to the Basilica Notre-Dame du Rance and the Romanesque church of Sainte Croix.
Impressive Josselin Castle is today the residence of the Duke and Duchess of Rohan and has been in the Rohan family for 10 centuries. The Castle boasts a wonderful Gothic outer façade and three of its remaining four towers overlook the Oust River. The inner façade features some extraordinary granite lacework and incorporates the letter ""A"" - a tribute to the much-loved Duchess Anne of Brittany, who presided over Brittany's Golden Age.
Following your tour of the Castle, you will have free time to stroll in the Castle's magnificent gardens before it's time to re-join your coach for the return transfer to Lorient.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 1/4 hours of moderate walking, some of it over cobblestone and uneven surfaces. There are also many steps to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Weather appropriate clothing; flat, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses are recommended. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
