Historic Dubrovnik & Village Life
Duration: 5 1/2 hours
Tour Code: dbv-002
"Those who seek paradise on earth," George Bernard Shaw once wrote, "should come to Dubrovnik." Today he might add that Dubrovnik is the place for all those who wish to renew themselves and their faith in human nature.
Driving by coach to the Pile Gate, guests find themselves at the beginning of the famous main street - the Stradun. Along the way, you will see, among other places, the Onofrious Fountain and the Franciscans and Rector's Palace. You will have free time for exploring the town on your own and for shopping.
After spending some time in Dubrovnik, you continue your ride through the chain of villages toward the picturesque Konavle Valley where a local family extends a welcome of local brandy and dried figs in their typical country home. The family has lived here for generations producing grape brandy, olive oil and wine in the traditional way. Visiting their house and property you will have a unique opportunity to see and appreciate how these people have lived in this area throughout the centuries. After strolling through the wine cellars and olive press we will enter a large dining room, where our gracious host will serve a light repast of local specialties including grilled meat, local cheese, smoked ham and homemade bread. While enjoying the meal including local wine, you will be entertained with typical Dalmatian music and songs performed by a group of local musicians/singers.
Please note: Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for this tour which involves moderate walking and approximately 35 steps to climb.
