Capri On the Lighter Side
Duration: 7 1/2 hours
Tour Code: srt-001
On the southern edge of the Gulf of Naples lies the island of Capri, often called the Island of Dreams. Roman emperors Augustus and Tiberius found peace and beauty here, as have the many celebrities who have visited the island. When you see Capri's impressive cliffs and brightly colored villas during this full-day excursion, you will understand the island's universal appeal.
Begin the tour by boarding a hydrofoil at the pier in Sorrento, where our guests will commence on a scenic, 30-minute cruise on the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Naples.
Upon arrival at Capri's Marina Grande, board a local mini-bus for a ride on a winding road to the higher village of Anacapri, where you can visit the famous Villa San Michele, or take a ride on the chairlift to Monte Solaro, the highest point on the island loved by Emperor Augustus, or browse around the local shops and boutiques.
Re-board your mini-bus for the 20-minute journey to the lovely town of Capri. From the park's spectacular vantage point you can view the Marina Piccola and the legendary Faraglioni Rocks, three spectacular rocks that protrude from the blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. After your visit to the gardens, you will have approximately 2 hours on your own to enjoy lunch, visit Via Camerelle, the famous shopping street, or wander through the central square known as the Piazzetta. Then, rejoin your mini-bus and travel to the Marina Grande where you will board a hydrofoil for the return to Sorrento.
Please note: During high season, Capri can be extremely crowded, and long lines are common, unavoidable, and should be expected at the hydrofoil and mini-bus stations. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for this excursion which involves walking over uneven surfaces and climbing stairs. This tour is not recommended for guests who have limited mobility or guests who utilize a wheelchair.
