Ketchikan, Alaska-port

Ketchikan, on the southwest side of Revillagigedo Island, grew up around salmon canneries and sawmills. Ketchikan's name supposedly comes from the native term "Katch Kanna", which roughly translates: "spread wings of a thundering eagle." At one time Ketchikan was proclaimed the “Salmon Capital of the World.” An outstanding collection of totem poles make a visit to Ketchikan essential for anyone interested in Native art. Travelers flock to Ketchikan for their first look at the North Country, and are rarely disappointed.

Experience the thrill of a lifetime during this awe-inspiring seaplane adventure from Ketchikan's bustling harbor to the Misty Fjords National Monument.

Depart the picturesque harbor aboard a seaplane for an exhilarating flight to the Misty Fjords National Monument. Your specially-equipped Dehavilland or Cessna aircraft will offer all of the amenities required to make your trip a memorable one, including window seats for all passengers, digital CD/audio systems, and individual headsets to hear the complimentary narration and music. A souvenir route guidebook will be provided.

Upon arrival at the Misty Fjords National Monument, you will experience the dramatic beauty of a land slowly crafted by the hands of nature over tens of thousands of years. Once buried under a solid layer of thick glacial ice, the Misty Fjords National Monument is now home to some of Alaska's most dramatic scenery. The sheer granite cliffs, plunging 1,000-foot waterfalls, beautiful river valleys and serene crystalline lakes surrounded by pristine untouched forests are truly sights to behold.

During your tour, a landing will be made on a remote mountain lake or saltwater fjord for an opportunity to absorb the silence, serenity and monumental beauty of your surroundings.

Following your visit, you will re-board your seaplane for the return flight to the harbor.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 65 minutes of total flight time, along with a ten-minute water landing at Misty Fjords (weather permitting).
