Port: Cozumel

Cozumel

Cozumel

Cozumel is the largest inhabited island in Mexico, which lies just off the mainland. The coasts are known for large, breaking surf on the east side, and calmer waters for diving on the west side. In 1959, Jacques Cousteau discovered the beauty of Palancar, the coral reefs at the south of Cozumel and publicized it as one of the best places to go scuba diving in the world. Diving is still Cozumel's primary draw, mainly due to the healthy coral reef marine communities.

The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

Xcaret Natural Adventure Park
Tour Code: COZ-008
Duration: 8 hours

Light Activity Regent Choice

Experience an unforgettable day at Xcaret - the most exciting and largest eco park in Latin America! This eco-archeological park offers a wealth of exhilarating activities in a tropical jungle setting on the Caribbean Sea. It is pure fun and enjoyment in a natural setting.

Leaving your cruise ship behind, you will travel by ferry to the mainland and Playa del Carmen, where your guide will escort you to your coach for the short transfer to Xcaret. You are on your own to explore and experience the park to its fullest at your own pace. There is an abundance of things to see and do here, such as a museum, a bird sanctuary, stables, botanical gardens, an aquarium, restored Mayan ruins, a replicated Mayan village, stunningly beautiful beaches and natural pools. As you stroll about the grounds you can view wild animals in their natural habitats and turning a corner, find yourself at the butterfly pavilion, surrounded by thousands of free-flying butterflies.

A must activity during your visit is a swim in the underground river (life vest is included). Flow with the current through these cool waters that take you along on an amazing journey through an underground cavern. You may participate in this independently or an optional guided tour is available at an additional cost. Other activities available at additional cost include SNUBA diving, sea treks and a dolphin swim tour. The dolphin tour must be booked and paid for at Xcaret, on a first-come, first-served basis, as reservations are not available. The cost is approximately $100 per person (subject to change).

If you would prefer a more relaxing day, Xcaret also features a lovely beach area with lounge chairs and beachside service. There are several eating venues on site with a wide variety of menu options.

After a full day at this amazing attraction, you will meet your guide at the appointed time and retrace your steps back to your waiting ship in Cozumel.

Please note: Viewing the majority of sites does require a considerable amount of walking, some of it over significant up and down inclines. The tour is not available to guests who utilize a wheelchair guests and it is not recommended for those guests with mobility concerns. Light-weight cotton clothing; flat, comfortable walking shoes; sun cap and sunglasses are recommended. While sunscreen is also recommended, sunscreens are not allowed in Xcaret. However, Xcaret sells special sunscreen that is safe for the environment. Guests wishing to participate in water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility and should bring a swimsuit, towel and change of clothes. Changing rooms are available at the Park. The consumption of alcohol before any water activity is strongly discouraged and not recommended. Radios are not permitted within the park.
