Lautoka, Fiji-port

The Fiji archipelago consists of tiny coral atolls and mountainous forest-clad islands of volcanic origin, and is famed for its aquamarine waters and white sand beaches. Lautoka, meaning “spear-hit” or “hit to win,” was named that as a result of an argument between two chiefs. It is sited in the western side of the largest island in Fiji. The city is surrounded with the blue Pacific Ocean on the western side and green gold sugar cane and pine trees on the other sides.

Experience Lautoka in an exciting new way during this orientation drive through the city, and an exhilarating jetboat ride on the Nadi River.

Depart the pier for the scenic 1-hour drive through Lautoka City. Along the way, you will visit such points of interest as the sugar mill and South Pacific Distilleries, the local brewery. From here, your drive will continue through various neighborhoods and pass by Viseisei Village; the original landing site of the first Fijians that emigrated from Tanganyika, Africa. Upon arrival in Nadi, a stop will be made at the local market for an opportunity to browse for souvenirs, jewelry and traditional handicrafts that include wood carvings and cloth.

Next, you will proceed to Port Denarau to experience the ultimate thrill with Jet Fiji. This exciting, 30-minute jetboat ride will begin in the crystal clear Nadi River, then continue into the heart of a mangrove forest. Besides the thrilling ride and 360-degree turns, you will also learn interesting highlights about Fiji's history and culture.

At the conclusion of your jetboat ride, you will re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier.

Please note: Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Guests are also encouraged to bring a towel, change of t-shirt and some cash for souvenirs. The brief stop at the sugar mill, and South Pacific Distilleries are exterior photo stops, as these sites are not open to the public for tours.
