This comprehensive excursion pays homage to Barcelona's architectural and artistic creativity through definitive attractions that include churches, residences and museums.

Depart from the pier and drive in a northeasterly direction to Barcelona, a city so visually delightful and culturally rich that there is simply no end to the attractions. None is more recognizable than the towering Sagrada Família where you will have an exterior visit and a bit of free time. This still unfinished 19th-century church was designed by modernist architect Antoni Gaudí, who is buried here. Rich in Christian symbology, the stunning church has been under construction since 1884.

Then, for a close-up view of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, you'll enjoy a guided walking tour through its maze of streets, many of which the ancient Romans laid out. The highlight here is La Seu, a city cathedral dating from the 14th century which features cloisters that have been called ""the loveliest oasis in Barcelona"". There is also an alabaster sarcophagus of Santa Eulalia and providing the cathedral is open to the public at the time of your visit, you'll have a brief interior visit.

After a traditional Catalan lunch, you'll begin your afternoon with a panoramic driving tour around the city, much of it along the Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona's grandest boulevard. Famed for its luxury shops and opulent architecture, the boulevard is home to two of Gaudí's most imaginative residential buildings, La Pedrera and Casa Batlio. While driving to hilltop Montjuic, you'll see other architectural showpieces such as sites for the 1992 Summer Olympics and a contemporary museum dedicated to Barcelona-born Joan Miro. Another perspective of the city awaits you from Mirador del Alcalde, where you'll stop for photos before returning to Tarragona.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of moderate walking/standing, plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time and photo stops. There will be cobblestone and uneven surfaces to negotiate along with some steps. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Weather appropriate clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Conservative attire is required to enter the religious venues.
