This lovely tour that showcases the world-famous destination of Portofino first begins with a scenic drive to the small village of Santa Margherita.

In the early 1900s, this fabled stretch of coastline welcomed royal families, politicians, wealthy industrialists and movie stars as a favored holiday location. It was also the seat of international political meetings, and in 1951, Santa Margherita hosted the preliminary conference of the European Coal and Steel Community, which helped lead the way to establishing the Common Market. Upon arrival, you will have a brief visit of the town, viewing what is considered its most important monument, the Basilica of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia.

From Santa Margherita, you will board the ferry and cruise to charming Portofino. Your time in this renowned resort town starts with a guided walking tour that takes you past many of its most notable sights and along the path to the lighthouse. At the conclusion of your guided tour, you are free to further explore this delightful town on your own. Perhaps you will want to stroll along the narrow streets that are surrounded by beautiful villas and their colorful gardens, or visit the church of St. George. Others may wish to simply take a seat and relax along the waterfront, soaking in the ambiance of this remarkable and incomparable corner of Liguria. All too soon, it will be time to re-join your fellow guests and retrace your steps back to your Oceania ship.

Please note: This tour includes considerable walking, at times over uneven surfaces. It is not available to wheelchair guests and not recommended for those guests with mobility concerns. Flat, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses are suggested. During the off-season which begins in late September, you may find that the shops will be closed.
